I didn’t enjoy this episode as much as the others this season. The Angel/Tall Green Monster (TGM) main plot was nonsensical, in my opinion. The whole idea of someone freezing time in the middle of sex was just ridiculous.

I did like the rapport between Angel and TGM. Angel hasn’t had a true confident since Doyle. Like Doyle, TGM isn’t human and can comprehend the depths of Angel’s despair. I liked how TGM needled Angel until he broke down and we finally got a peek into Angel’s head. We can’t blame Angel for his feelings of being under siege from Wolfram and Hart, lonely, and the difficult path to redemption. Doyle would have been perfect at this moment. He would have reminded Angel that it wasn’t about his redemption as much as saving the innocent. However, at least TGM was able make Angel realize that alienating the crew was harsh. BTW, did you notice that Angel referred to Cordelia, Gunn, and Wesley as “the crew?” Can we say, “shout out” to my reviews?

The subplot with Cordelia, Gunn, and Wesley was the best part of the show, in my opinion. It was wonderful to see the crew scrambling back onto their feet. The actors play off each other really well. They have wonderful chemistry and great comedic timing. The crew may have stumbled through their first case, but they stood by each other and came out on top. I loved the last scene. It is so appropriate that they were partying to celebrate their success. When their prospective client entered and they said that “Angel” was just a name, I felt sad for the friendship and family that was lost when Angel sent them away.

Hopefully, next week’s episode will be more entertaining.
