DARLA: Angelus? Are you here? Angelus?
ANGEL: Not everyone screams.
DARLA: (a beat) What?
ANGEL: (shaky voice) When you kill them. Some just stand there. Frozen. While others . . .
DARLA: (smiles, removing her hat) What are you doing? Are we playing a game?
Angelus: The children... they usually scream.
DARLA: Yes. They sound just like little pigs. Have you brought me some? (he doesn't respond) What? You don't think I'll share? I can't believe you think I'm that insensitive.
Angelus: We've drunk and killed for how long, now? A hundred and forty-odd years. We drunk them all up (voices cracks) and they're all dead!
DARLA: (concerned) Where have you been?
Angelus: (pulling away) Don't!
DARLA: What is this? Have you met someone else? (he clings to her) No. No. Let go. Let go of me!
DARLA: What happened to you? Angelus, what happened?
Angelus: That gypsy girl you brought me. Her people found out. They did something to me.
DARLA: A spell.
Angelus: Funny. You'd think with all the people I've maimed and killed I wouldn't be able to remember every single one. Help me.
DARLA: (softly) The spell. They gave you a soul. (rising anger) A filthy soul! NO! (scratches his face, shouting) You're disgusting!
Angelus: Darla . . .
DARLA: No. Get away from me!
Angelus: You brought her here.
(Darla tries to stake him)
Angelus: I *am* like you.
DARLA: You're not like anything! Get away from me. Get out! I'll kill you!
