(note: the following scene, up until Angel wakes up, happens entirely in Angel's head)

CORDELIA: Must be hard. Seeing everyone so happy because of what you did. Bringing the light back, but not being able to go out into it.

ANGEL: There's no place I'd rather be... than here with you.

(Angel and Cordelia kiss sweetly. She puts her arms around his neck, but he stops her.)

ANGEL: Cordy...

CORDELIA: No. Whatever it is, whatever the reason or excuse or logic, we're here. Now. Together. Everything is the way it's supposed to be. For once. Angel, haven't we waited long enough?

(they kiss, and we seque to the bed. But then Angel comes over all I'm-losing-my-soul queasy.)

ANGEL: Buffy? No! Oh, God! No!

(cut to the cage, where Angelus lies strapped to the table. Angel's been dreaming his perfect day this whole time. And now his soul's gone.)

WO-PANG: The vision becomes reality. It is done.

CORDELIA: Angelus.

(Angelus laughs maniacally. Pan out to show the jar for his soul now contains white smoke.)
