(A sick little boy watches a puppet show on TV)

PUPPETS: (singing on TV) In our secret backyard we can make your day more fun and less hard. No more frowning, let's get learning ABC's and 123's, everything from words to weather

GROOFUS: (singing) we'll discover them together! Woof!

PUPPETS: (singing) Time to strap your thinking cap on thinking things are going to happen...

MOTHER: (on the phone) Because he's still sick, Ma. He can't keep anything down. Yeah, and he's running a temperature. Well, what am I supposed to do? My shift starts in half an hour. Yes.

PUPPETS: (singing) Every day's a new beginning all your friends are here and grinning 'cause it's smile time

MOTHER: (on phone) No, Ma, I can't.

PUPPETS: That's right! You're on smile time.

(the main puppet, Polo, noticing that the mother has wandered away from the room, comes right up to the screen and starts talking directly to the boy)

POLO: Oh, good. She's gone. OK, Tommy, you know what to do. Tommy, you should never break a promise. You don't wanna be a bad apple, do you? Come on. You know smile time isn't free. Now get over here and touch it.

(Tommy stands and walks toward the TV)

POLO: That's it, Tommy. Come on. Touch it!

(when Tommy puts both his hands on the TV screen, the puppet starts moaning with pleasure)

POLO: Ohh! Ohh... that's it. Oh, yeah. Good boy, Tommy. Oh...ohhh...

(Tommy keels over)

MOTHER: OK, Tommy, grandma's gonna be here in a few hours. Listen, I don't want you watching that crap all day long...

(sees Tommy lying twisted on the floor, with a wide rigor mortis creepy smile on his face)

PUPPETS: (singing) 'cause it's Smile Time. That's right! You're on Smile Time!
