(Spike fights 2 vamps as a scared couple look on from behind their broken down car. He stakes them both simultaneously with two hidden wrist-trigger stakes, just like Angel has been doing in the opening credits since season 1)

SPIKE: It's all right. You're safe now.

MAN: What were those things?

SPIKE: You're better off not knowing, believe me.

WOMAN: Wait. Who are you?

(without turning to face them, head down, Spike replies)

SPIKE: (softly) I'm the hero.

(walks off)
