<Episode 109: Smashed>

Willow transforms the Amy-rat back into Amy & Spike suspects something is wrong with his chip.

Plot Highlights:

Buffy vs muggers. No kissing for Spike. Lonely Willow realizes she can de-rat Amy. Warren & co steal a diamond. Buffy starts to talk to Willow about Spike, but spots Amy. Buffy patrols the crime scene, gets into a little scuffle with Spike. Spike, thinking his chips deactivated, stalks a girl. Tara & Dawn bond. Willow magically interfaces with her laptop, tries to downplay Tara's leaving. Spike forces Warren to examine his chip. Amy talks Willow into a night out. Dawn guilts Tara. Amy & Willow engage in recreational magic at the Bronze. Xander & Anya tell Buffy their Willow-concerns. Spike confronts Buffy & they pull an abandonned building down around them.

Memorable Moments:

• Warren subtly trying to clue the clueless Andew & Jonathan in that they should "get the freeze-ray" out.
• Buffy & Amy exchanging brief life updates: "rat, you?" "dead".
• Spike nerving himself up to return to his old killer ways
• Anya demonstrating that she's inherited Cordy's I-Think-It-I-Say-It Crown, with her outburst to Willow about Tara's having up & left her; her proud smile as she realizes she's the only one who would be so bold.
• Dawn faux-innocently guilting Tara into staying with her.
• Spike holding Bobo Fett hostage; Andew & Jonathan trying pathetically to make small talk to a disgusted Spike.
• Buffy trying very hard not to see any parallels between Willow's seduction by magic and her attraction to Spike; her hilarious "no, no grunting!" when he calls.
• Buffy and Spike's re-enactment of "you'll fight, you'll shag, you'll hate each other till you quiver" and fulfillment of Faith-in-Buffy's taunts and not to mention proof that he wasn't far off when he said "I'm willing to wager when all's said and done - Buffy likes it rough" last season.
