NOTES ON EPISODE ART: CREATED 11/2001 ~Like almost everyone else in the known universe, I really liked this episode, so I'm not quite sure why the collage was such a struggle. Maybe because the wide formatting made my screen shots lower in res. Maybe because I couldn't decide on a single subject. At any rate, I may need to give this one another shot somewhere down the line...

A jazzy demon causes everyone in Sunnydale to reveal their secret thoughts & feelings in song.
Plot Highlights:

Morning at the Summers house (overture). Buffy patrols (singing). The scoobies theorize (singing). Willow & Tara sneak out, Tara sings. Morning at Xander & Anya's (singing). Buffy visits Spike, Spike sings. Dawn arrouses Tara's suspicions, gets kidnapped. Demon serenades Dawn. Giles trains Buffy (singing). Tara discovers Willow's mind spell. Tara & Giles duet. Giles sends Buffy to save Dawn alone. Buffy goes, singing. Buffy sings about life, lets her Heaven secret slip. Spike stops her from combusting. Xander admits his guilt, the demon leaves. Group sing, but Spike cuts out. Buffy follows, they duet & the curtain closes on a kiss.
Memorable Moments:

Buffy singing as she casually offs demons & vamps; their joining in the singing with her before their demises...
Tara's love song to Willow being about being under Willow's spell, and then finding out to her disgust that she actually *is* being tampered with.
Xander & Anya's retro-pastiche dancing/singing extravaganza
Spike's lovers' complaint, especially the way his actually being dead puts a twist on all the conventional angsty lovers' lyrics about dead hearts, etc.
The Demon's manifesto, with the singing & the professional voice & the jazzy music. Sharp!
Giles' father's lament, and the duet with Tara as they both realize they need to leave
Buffy's resolve to walk through the fire, and the overlapping shots as the others decide to join her.
Buffy's "Life" dance, revelation of her trip to Heaven & rescuing by Spike.
The final moment between Buffy & Spike, ending in true musical fashion with a spectacular kiss and "THE END".
