Quick Review:

The Real Me is a fun and entertaining episode and goes a long way towards reassuring us that though wacky kid sisters may appear out of nowhere, the Scooby Gang are still the same bunch we know and love. Giles was particularly priceless, from beginning to end his every scene was a perfect riot (see Memorable Moments below). Proving that not all good BtVS episodes need to be steeped in trauma, this one definitely makes the A list for season 5.

Memorable Moments:

  • Giles regretting his choice in automobiles (a sporty convertible) in one breath and then feeling a need to show it off to Willow & Tara in the next. His suggestion that Buffy show a "modicrum of respect".
  • Xander laughing & taunting Harmony and her "terrifying Harmony gang" when she shows up to call the absent Buffy out to fight. Buffy & Riley cracking up about Harmony's minions.
  • Spike running across Harmony and refusing to take her plans to kill Buffy seriously. "Evil for dummies".
  • Giles being suddenly distracted mid-investigation by the many (obvious?) charms of Magic Shop ownership; his defense of his decision to Buffy at the end.
  • Harmony whining to Dawn about the pressures of being a vamp gang leader, her minions turning on her and then Buffy capping off her day by joining Spike in insulting her ability to be evil.
  • Cheap. Tasteless. Unicorns. But good for staking in a pinch. Ah, the perils of being sire-whipped.

NOTES ON EPISODE ART: CREATED 01/2005 ~(Feb 2002) Nothing too special here, just my standard "grab a few caps, throw 'em together and add filters/textures to the space between" collage. Still, they were some nice clear caps, so I'm pretty happy with the results. The pink of Dawn's shirt and red of Harmony's lipstick suggested the pinkish-red tone I opted to give the collage as a whole. (Jan 2004) current displayed version is a redo, with the usual simplfy and clarify tactics.
