NOTES ON EPISODE ART: CREATED 06/2003 ~Given the tone of the episode, I wanted a collage that was all smiles, so of course I started with that final image of Buffy from the end, pairing it with Willow's blissed out smile and accenting it with the other big feat of triumphant magic, Spike's divine lawn sprinkler act. I filled in Faith and the other slayers around the edges and added the Empty Road of Limitless Promise in the corner. I added a lot of yellow to try to give it an exhuberant feeling, and used the sketch -> half tone pattern filter to add pattern here and there.

Buffy defeats the First.
Plot Highlights:

Angel and Buffy chat. Caleb wakes up. Buffy finishes Caleb. Amulet Exposition. Heart-to-heart with Angel. Dawn returns. Buffy visits Spike, gives him the amulet. the First taunts Buffy. Buffy shares her new plan with the Scoobies, then the potentials. Wood & Faith chat. Kennedy reassures Willow. Dungeons & Dragons. Troops deployed at Sunnydale High. Buffy, Faith & Potentials enter the hellmouth. Willow's spell kicks in. Andrew gives Anya bunny advice. Hellmouth free-for-all goes well at first, 'til Buffy goes down. The First taunts Buffy, but she bounces back. Spike radiates ubervamp-killing rays. The hellmouth starts to crumble, everyone flees. Spike goes out laughing, Buffy hops a bus out of town. Sunnydale collapses into a big pit.
