Tara spins the tale of Kitty Fantastico. Buffy moves back home. Spike fantasizes about being beat up by Buffy. Anya is excited about working at the Magic Shop. Riley gets upset with Buffy for not letting him in. Buffy & the gang tell off Tara's family.
Quick Review:
It was nice to finally get some back-story on Tara, and the 'demon heritage' twist was very satisfying after all the "oh no, my new significant other turns out to be a [insert monster here]" story lines that have cropped up over the years. Plenty of "teary" with a warm & fuzzy ending, so all in all pretty satisfying. I know a lot of people had problems with her family being evil hicks, but given that we've seen plenty of evil sophisticated city folk over the years, I just don't see it as particularly insulting... All in all, a memorable if not totally gripping episode.
Memorable Moments:
- Anya's delight at being a "working gal" and "useful member of society" and her insistance on doing the "money parts" rather than boring invoicing...
- Riley noticing Buffy's Dawn-obsessive behavior, calling her on it with no success and leaving with a "you decide you wanna let me in on any of this, let me know".
- Riley making small talk with the she-vamp at Wiley's dive.
- Harmony coming back from a "sale" and pondering if she should put together a gift basket for the Lei-Ach Demons if they succeed in killing Buffy.
- Buffy telling Mr McClay if he wants Tara he has to come through her, and then getting backup from Dawn and the rest.
