Quick Review:
An excellent follow up to the Body, Forever manages to return to the typical BtVS format while only partially throttling back on the frighteningly mundane waves of trauma left in the wake of Joyce's death. Angel's temporary return is nicely handled and as usual the Dawn/Spike interactions are great. The emotional heart of the episode though comes in its final moments as Buffy's got-it-together facade crumbles in the face of Dawn's angry accusations.
Memorable Moments:
- Spike stopping by with flowers for Joyce, only to be driven off by Xander.
- Joyce's funeral.
- Angel's silently slipping his hand into Buffy's as she stands by Joyce's grave as if he'd never been gone. Their sad, quiet graveyard tryst.
- Giles listening to "Brave Ulysses" and remembering Joyce.
- Spike protecting stubborn "Bitty Buffy" Dawn in the Gora's lair.
- Buffy breaking down under Dawn's accusations of coldness.
