Plot Highlights:

Buffy & Dawn wait for Joyce's CAT scan results. The gang takes shots at Riley for lone-wolfing. Spike gets caught sniffing Buffy's sweater. Glory shops at the Magic Shop. Dr Isaacs diagnoses Joyce. Dawn innocently adds to Riley's Buffy-doubts. Riley stakes Sandy. Buffy kills Glory's snake monster. Buffy rain-checks on Riley's offered shoulder.
Quick Review:

With a few exceptions (see below) Shadow falls a bit short, without being painfully bad. It does serve to move a whole slew of season-long plots a little way along (Riley's insecurities, Joyce's illness, Glory's key hunt, Spike's obsession, etc) so it's not quite skippable, but somehow seems to lack any real excitement or energy. And the less said about the giant snake the better (flashbacks to Clash of the Titans, anyone?) Not much by way of rewatch potential...
Memorable Moments:

Anya's sparky bits of comic releif, from her phone-book ad excitement, to her delight that she's growing as a person, to her "are you stupid or something?" comment to Giles and finally catching a clue about the attempt to hide the Glory-blunder from Buffy.
Xander's reactions to Riley's lone-wolfing and his "what kind of action are you looking for?" challenge.
Riley finding Spike sniffing Buffy's sweater and Spike managing to score some deep digs at Riley's insecurities as he gets tossed uncerimoniously out.
Buffy's reactions to the Dr's diagnosis
Dawn inadvertently adding to Riley's insecurities over Buffy when she tells him that Buffy used to get more worked up about Angel.
Buffy turning her back on Riley's offers of comfort in order to go into the hospital room and be strong for Joyce and Dawn.

NOTES ON EPISODE ART: CREATED 07/2005 ~Another redo. Wow, has it really been nearly 4 years since the original? Yep, it really has. For this version, I wanted to include all three major plot lines, with an emphasis on Joyce's illness. The sickly green and purple flesh tones work nicely to emphasize that, I think.
