Vampire Angel - Comic Con Exclusive
Now available to order is this very exclusive Angel action figure. A tall, dark Irish gentleman born in the early 1700s, Angel was a young man who was sired by the vampire Darla and becomes the vampire Angelus, the one with the angelic face, the scourge of Europe. His taste for the Dark side ends in 1898 when Angelus feeds off and kills a young Gypsy girl in Romania, causing her tribe's elders to curse him with a conscience and the return of this soul. As a result, Angel is constantly atoning for his many transgressions. He falls in love with Buffy and makes it his mission to help out the Slayer by honing her fighting skills.

Anthony Stewart Head talked to the Official Buffy Magazine, as transcripted by the BBC, where he says that there is indeed a future for the RIPPER spinoff: "We still talk about [Ripper]. Joss came over to Britain to see the shows I was doing...He has an idea that I thought would work very well. It means the project is still alive – still something that Joss wants to do. He wants to make a two-hour TV movie." Head also discusses voicing the cartoon Giles in the animated project.

Recommended Diversions
Back in the fall of 2003, the Fox Network launched a science-fiction series called “Firefly,” the brain-child of Joss Whedon (“Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”). Set some 500 years in the future after a devastating civil war (this one involved an “alliance of planets), “Firefly” follows the adventures of a mixed bag of fugitives and renegades who manage to survive by plying their slightly illegal business on the fringes of a dozen galaxies.

:: Eliza Interview
Eliza Dushku on Wrong Turn, Tru Calling and Buffy
Imagine picking up the phone and hearing, “Hey, it’s Eliza.” That is the privilege of doing what I do. People like Eliza Dushku call my house to talk to me. Dushku was in New York where she’d just attended the Up Front presentation for her new show, Tru Calling, which will air on Fox in the fall. We’ll get to that, but first she wanted to talk about Wrong Turn.

:: David Boreanaz News
The Many Faces of Superman
David Boreanaz: Most famous for: Playing the good-guy vampire Angel on the TV shows “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel.”
Is he super? Maybe. He’s hasn’t really acted in anything of note other than as Angel, so we haven’t seen a lot of range out of him. We know he’s good at playing a tough guy with a sensitive core, but that’s more in the Batman line. His atrocious Irish accent was a liability for Angel, but shouldn’t have any effect on his potential as Superman.

Do You Want to be in the Movies?
Hollywood is coming to the Orange Show Speedway on Saturday, June 26, 2004. A feature film romantic comedy, "The Perfect Lie," starring David Boreanaz will be filming prior to Saturday's races. There will be free admission prior to 4:30pm to all that want to see the filming. Gates open at 2:00pm.

:: Joss's Comic and Firefly News
Joss Whedon's Comics & Stories
So here's the path that Whedon took to get to Marvel: he helped write screenplays for blockbuster films (Speed, Toy Story), and then created three TV shows, one of which, Buffy, has become a cultural icon, and even wrote a revision of the screenplay for the first X-Men movie, which is not used. (Although, reading Astonishing X-Men #1, I again wonder why. It's got better dialogue than anything in the first film.) And now he's starting to direct his first feature film, Serenity, based on his Firefly series. Only now, after Whedon reaches this extraordinary pinnacle of success, does he get to write an X-Men comic book! Isn't this doing it all backwards?

Serenity Flies on Tenacity
Alan Tudyk, who reprises the role of space pilot Wash in the upcoming SF movie Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that it was creator Joss Whedon's perseverance that got the movie off the ground. Serenity is based on Whedon's canceled Fox SF television series Firefly.

:: General BtVS and Cartoon News
The Gospel of Buffy
It started out as a joke. Two academic women were laughing over the absurdity of writing a book about the spirituality of the teen TV show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in May 2002. But by fall of that year, Jana Riess, religion book review editor at Publishers Weekly, was writing a book proposal.

Buffy Stakes Out Spiritual Issues
How much spiritual enlightenment, one might wonder, can be gleaned from a TV show created by an atheist about a cute blonde girl in a miniskirt whose mission in life (and the afterlife) is to battle vampires?

Buffy Toons Up for Return
The animated show, which is still a pilot and has not been picked up by a network, stars almost the entire cast of the cult favorite show, with a handful of exceptions including Buffy herself.

Buffy Resurrected in Animation
Defunct TV show Biffy The Vampire Slayer is set to be resurrected as a cartoon.

No Gellar in Buffy Toon
The June 20 issue of TV Guide reported that voice actress Giselle Loren will take over Sarah Michelle Gellar's starring role in a proposed animated Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series, for which a pilot is being produced.

The New Voice of Buffy Speaks
Actress Giselle Loren is enjoying life. And why shouldn't she? She's been cast as the lead in a pilot which will hopefully result in our favorite Slayer coming back to our living rooms on a regular basis.

Sixth Season Was Last Great One for Buffy
The penultimate season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer begins inauspiciously, with its titular heroine (Sarah Michelle Gellar) dead and buried. After sacrificing herself at the end of season five to save her younger sister, Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg), and, oh yeah, humanity as a whole, Buffy is enjoying a 6-feet-under respite from the looming horrors of Sunnydale, Calif.
