First off we have The Master. He was the first ever vampire to be known to this world so that's why his features don't seem that human like, he looks more like a bat. As a vampire grows old human features apparently become lost, but this is after many hundreds of years. We don't know how exactly how old The Master is but over 900 years old maybe. The Master made his way to Sunnydale to the hellmouth in 1997 to fulfill the destiny of killing the slayer and drinking her blood. He did kill Buffy (the slayer) for a few minutes, she was then revived by Xander, and Buffy then went on to fight and kill The Master.

Next is Darla, she was sired by The Master in 1609 in a Virginia Colony while she was on her death bed. Darla used to be a working girl and through her job had contracted syphilis and was due to die in a matter of hours. The Master paid her a visit. Darla not knowing what was really going on let The Master turn her into the vampire, Darla. Darla wasn't Darla's human name but was given to her by The Master. Darla was The Master's favourite and she stood by his side for a long time. Until Darla sired a vampire, Angelus, and went off to see the world with him. But the situation changed with Angelus and Darla returned to The Master and went with him to Sunnydale in 1997 where she helped The Master over come Buffy, the slayer. But in doing so she faced off with her sired vampire Angelus or as he was then known Angel. Darla was bent on bringing Angel back to the dark ways but Angel wasn't having any of it and so killed Darla. Three years later Darla was brought back from the dead by a law firm in Los Angeles called Wolfram & Hart, but she was brought back as human and also her syphilis also came back with her as a human. She was dying once again and went to Angel to turn her again so she would live on. He refused and Wolfram & Hart brought Drusilla from wherever she was to do the deed. She did and so the grand daughter re-made the grand mother. Darla and Drusilla began their killing days again, Drusilla wandered off back to where she came from leaving Darla alone in LA. She wreaked as much havoc as she possibly could for Angel, and after one night of passion between them Darla was pregnant with their child. It's impossible for vampires to have children but this happened and it was a human baby. She fled from LA, but when the pregnancy became visible she came back seeking the father. She found him and together they went through the last stages of her pregnancy. But Darla could feel the baby dying inside her and she sacrificed her own life to let the child live.

When the time line went a bit loopy and the world wasn't right Buffy was turned into a vampire by The Master in Nightmares. But as soon as the nightmares were over her turn as a vampire was also over.

Also in The Wish when Cordelia wished for a world where Buffy did not come to Sunnydale Willow and Xander were turned into vampires by The Master in 1997 when they were first faced with vampires, and with Buffy not being there they were helpless. They were The Master's favourite vampires and the most deadly vampires in Sunnydale, they at his side all the time. However they were both killed in The Master's human blood factory. Xander got killed by Angel and Willow was killed by Oz.

Angelus is next in the line of vampires. He was sired by Darla in 1753 in Galway Ireland. As a human Angelus was called Liam and was about twenty six years old when he was sired by Darla. Both him and Darla terrorised Angelus' home town and then left it for dead. They ventured to England and all over Europe. In 1860 Angelus and Darla were in Europe where they found a girl who could see things before they happened. Angelus drove her crazy by killing her whole family and then turned her in the vampire, Drusilla. In 1898 while in Romania Darla brought a gypsy girl for Angelus to feed upon. He fed and killed the girl, the clan to whom the girl belonged to weren't happy about it. They cursed Angelus, they brought back his human soul so he could remember for all eternity all the people that he had killed. He went underground, fed on rats. In 1900, Angel reappears in China during the Boxer Rebellion and asks Darla to take him back and says that he can still be a vampire. She takes him back, but Angel only kills the thieves, murdered and rapists and is again cast out by Darla to live among the rats again. in 1996 Angel was approached by a demon called Whistler and he showed him the slayer, Buffy in Los Angeles. Angel fell in love with the girl the minute he saw her and promised to clean up his act and help her through her slaying. When Angel and Buffy met they fell in love, instantly. Their relationship progressed and one night they made love. But that fateful night Angel reverted back to Angelus. The curse was lifted through one moment of perfect happiness with Buffy. And the first thing he wanted to do was to bring an end to the world. He was going to plunge the world into hell. The world was about to get sucked into hell when his human soul was restored to him by Willow who preformed the curse the old gypsy woman performed hundreds of years ago on Angelus for the first time. His soul was restored, but the hole to hell was already open and the only way to close it was with Angel's blood, so Buffy killed Angel. He was sent to hell where he remained until he was mysteriously brought back to Sunnydale. He remained in Sunnydale until his thoughts of the future for him and Buffy were actually realised, that they had no proper future. He split, headed for Los Angeles and opened up an investigation business, Angel Investigations. Angelus made a brief return when Angel was fed a drug which brought around the feeling of perfect happiness, but this feeling soon faded after a few hours.

Sarah Holtz, daughter of Daniel Holtz a captain in the 1700's. Sarah was killed and turned into a vampire by Angelus, while he killed the rest of Daniel's family. Holtz kept Sarah in the house as a vampire for a day after the turning happened, after which he took her outside into the sunlight and watched her burn up.

Penn was sired by Angelus in the late 1700's. First he killed his sister, then the entire family as they feasted. Penn looked on at Angelus as a father figure as Angelus taught Penn everything he needed to know about vampirism. For 200 years he relived his first night of being a vampire and killed a girl and his family over and over again. He killed in Los Angeles in 1929 and 1963, returning each time to the same spot. In 1929 it was the Regents Gardens Hotel, and in 1963 it was the Cloverwood Apartments. He may have been responsible for deaths in Boston in 1908. On each victim he left his own signature, in the left cheek of each victim he carved out the shape of a cross. This very thing led Angel to Penn when Penn arrived back in Los Angeles to repeat the murders again. Angel heads off to try and kill Penn, him and Penn are in a lock, then Kate Lockley uses a huge piece of wood as a stake and plunges it through both Angel and Penn, but through Penn's heart and kills him.

Drusilla was sired in about 1860. She was first found by Darla, she showed Drusilla to Angelus and he had to have her. She has the sight and can see things before they happen. She was told by her mother that only God can see such things and she's the work of the devil. She was a devout Christian and so asked for penance when she knew of this, as several of her visions came true. Angelus was in the confessions box after devouring the priest he began working on Drusilla. First he killed her entire family, causing her to go insane then he turned her condemning her to eternity of being insane. She, Darla and Drusilla roamed Europe for much of their time. Drusilla felt she needed a play mate and so sired a vampire. Time went on and the four vampire split, with Drusilla and her sired vampire going one way, Darla going back to The Master and Angelus had his soul. Drusilla and Spike went to Sunnydale in 1998 to seek the slayer and kill her. Also Drusilla was looking for her sire, as she was permanently weakened after a mob in Prague ran her and her sired vampire out of the city. Her sire being Angel. He had to be drained in order for Drusilla to return to her former glory. She was returned, but the procedure didn't kill Angel, to his relief. When Angelus returned Drusilla teamed up with him to help bring about the end of the world. But Spike, Drusilla's sired vampire, liked the world and enlisted in Buffy's help to stop them both. Spike ran off with Drusilla to South America where they broke up and went their separate ways. Drusilla was tracked down by Wolfram & Hart to help restore Darla to a vampire which she did. And then she made her way back to Sunnydale to try and get her lover and vampire, Spike, back. Her plan failed and she's fled again.

Sam Lawson was sired by Angel in 1943, when he had a soul. Angel was forced to help out a submarine during the World War. Lawson was the remaining person in charge. He was the only person who could fix a part of the engine when it failed them. However upon trying to fix it he was shot by a Nazi and would have died. Angel sired him to save the rest of the crew. After Lawson fixed the engine Angel tossed him out of the submarine.

Theresa was the next vampire sired by Angelus. When Angel lost his soul in 1998 Theresa was one of the people who he turned. Theresa was a student at Sunnydale High School, in self defense class with Buffy. She was on her way home from school and heard something. It was just Angelus, he said he knew Buffy and walked Theresa home where he turned her.

Spike was sired by Drusilla. Before he was Spike, as a human he was known as William. He loved writing poetry and many people looked down on him about his poetry as they didn't think it was very good. One night his poetry was badly received and laughed at by a group of people at a party and the woman he thought he loved claimed he was beneath him. In his emotional rage he stormed out in the streets on London, the same night that Drusilla was looking for a "play mate" of hers. She found it in William. That night, in 1880, Drusilla turned William into a vampire. Darla, William, Drusilla and Angelus plagued the people in London but were then forced out of London by mobs and up to Yorkshire. Here Spike tells Angelus he would rather be known as Spike, as he also tortured many of his victims with rail road spikes. Angelus also tells him of a slayer, vampire slayer. From this moment onwards Spike becomes obsessed with slayers. In 1900 Spike and the gang are in China during the Boxer Rebellion where Spike kills his first slayer and gets a taste for it. The next we know of Spike is in 1977 where he's in New York on a train where he's fighting a vampire slayer and then ultimately kills her as well. Spike is next seen going to Sunnydale with Drusilla to help restore her and has plans for him and Drusilla to run the town. But first he had to get rid of The Anointed One, left by The Master. He disposes of him very quickly. But things don't work out so well in Sunnydale. After Angelus returns Spike finds himself in competition with him for Drusilla's attention. But as the world is being sucked into hell Spike flees the scene with Drusilla where they head to South America. Here Spike sees Drusilla "going out with" another demon. She says that Spike's obsessed with the slayer, Buffy, and heads back to Sunnydale to weep over his loss of his girlfriend. In Sunnydale he realises that he has to be the man he was and goes back to torture Drusilla back to him. And yet this doesn't work again, he returns to Sunnydale a year later to search for the Gem of Amarra. A vampire version of the holy grail where the wearer of the ring is completely immortal if they are a vampire. But unfortunately here he also get captured by a government organisation who implant a chip in Spike's brain which emits a pain sensation whenever he hurts or attempts to bite a human being. Spike is rendered incapable of being a true vampire. Also his obsession with Buffy grown to an unhealthy amount, he falls in love with her, but things get ugly and he hurts him just like Cecily did all those years back in London. Spike travels to Africa for the chip to be removed and for him to give Buffy what she really needs. Instead his soul is returned and now faces his inner conflict.

While Spike was in Sunnydale the first time around he sired a student at Sunnydale High School, Sheila, whom he found leaving a night club. Sheila was far from a model student, she had stabbed a teacher at school and so while she was leaving the club Spike killed two men who she was with and then walked her away and then turned her. At school Spike and his gang were trying to kill Buffy, Sheila turned up and when she found out who Buffy was fled the scene.

One of Buffy's old Sunnydale High school goers was sired by Spike in late 2002. His name was Holden Webster, and dying and becoming a vampire was very unexpected for him.

After William aka Spike was sired by Drusilla his next conquest was to cure his mother, Anne, of her illness forever, by making her a vampire too. However after he turned her, his mother was no longer the woman he remembered and he staked her.
