Learn which Heinlein Novel Angel Strongman Tim Minear Is Adapting For The Big Screen Some crap “Angel” fan site ripped off my roundup of what all the “Buffy”/”Angel” writers are up to these days. I know they ripped me off because it got right everything I got right. But because I held back which Robert A. Heinlein novel former “Angel” showrunner Tim Minear (who wrote more great “Angel” episodes than anyone alive) was adapting, the crap “Angel” site got that part way wrong. |

But there's definitely things I WON'T miss. In no particular order: |

General BtVS News |
Introducing ... The Buffy! Why didn't "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," the show that launched more scholarship, analysis and reverent weekly gatherings than most organized religions, ever win an Emmy? Hey, there, Scooby Gang. Put down those staffs! Yes, it's true that "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" won two Emmys. But should we really feel comforted by the fact that Joss Whedon's sly creation took home one Emmy for outstanding makeup for a series and another for outstanding music composition at a time when competent couch-idlers like "The Practice" and "Law & Order" went home with armloads of ghetto gold? The travesty. The travesty! |

Joss News |
Joss Whedon to take on X-Men 3? This is one of those rumors you really hope pans out. According to TV Guide Online, Joss Whedon (creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel") may replace director Bryan Singer on "X-Men 3." Singer had to drop out of the third "X-Men" film after signing on to direct Warner Bros.' update of "Superman". Whedon's supernatural pedigree makes him a natural to pick up the "X-Men" movie pieces, and his pre-existing relationship with Marvel as a writer for the "X-Men" comic books doesn't hurt either. |

Joss News |
In the News: X-Men, Survivor & More! NEW X-MAN?: Here's a juicy rumor I really hope is true: There's increasing chatter that Buffy the Vampire Slayer mastermind Joss Whedon is in talks to replace Bryan Singer at the helm of X-Men 3. Singer recently signed on to direct the new Superman flick, leaving the fate of the next X-Men installment up in the air. Whedon's camp isn't commenting on the buzz, but Spike issued the following statement: "There bloody well better be a part in it for me." |

Angel News |
I Love a Good Ending Angel is a good example of a series that was ended by network mandate rather than by the production team. In retrospect, it was a decent enough ending, with some characters dying heroically and the threat of a large battle looming in downtown Los Angeles as Angel led his friends into the end of it all, but it was abrupt and left far too much of the narrative unresolved. While it’s a shame that the WB opted not to give Angel another season to put all its narrative ducks in a row, seeing Angel head off to slay a dragon is a much better image than revealing that the Wolfram & Hart law firm actually existed inside a snow globe that belongs to a child with autism. |

Buffy Animated News |
Live Action Launched Cartoon Renaissance Fans of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” have been salivating for more stories since the show went off the air last year after seven seasons. But star Sarah Michelle Gellar has expressed little interest in reprising her role. Replacing her with another actress might be too jolting, but replacing her with a cartoon may be more palatable — even if a substitute performs the voice. Animation artist Eric Wight has created concept drawings for the proposed animated “Buffy” series, which is being shopped around to networks but could also turn into a DVD film. |

Where are they Now? A run down of where the ex-Buffy/Angel writers and directors are now. Jeff Bell (Joss Whedon’s co-writer on the spectacular “Angel” series finale) is now with “Alias.” Liz Craft & Sarah Fain (they scripted Hamilton’s introduction in the five-star “Underneath”) have been asked to join “The Shield.” Steve DeKnight (he co-scripted the hilarious Italy-set “The Girl in Question”) is headed to “Smallville.” |

Angel News |
Angel Season 4 Review: Family Matters There's something about the fourth season of ANGEL that makes some remember it in a negative light. Yes, there is that one incredibly cringe-worthy couple in the mix, but it's a shame that one element – intensely disturbing as it may be – to overshadow a quality season of television that's worth picking up now that it’s freshly available on DVD. |
