Buffy Toon Still up for Sale Writer David Fury stopped by the Bronze Beta and updated 'Buffy' fans on where the long-awaited "Buffy" cartoon series currently stands. According to Fury, they're still trying to find a home for the show - which takes place in Buffy's highschool years - but the Showtime network has been rumoured. Moviehole has also heard that if that doesn't happen - and even if it does - that the "Buffy" cartoons may find a home on DVD, be it in an episode chain or movie-length animated feature. Within the next twelve months we should be seeing some inked-up Slayer action. |

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow in SciFi For a few episodes last spring in the final season of "Angel," Newman played the mysterious Drogyn, who starts out with what the actor describes as an "Aragorn-esque wig" and winds up bald and withered, with only a few scraps of hair on his scalp. |

Marc News |
Why Buffy's Beau Nearly Wasn't Marc Blucas almost missed his chance to be Buffy's commando boyfriend, Riley, on the cult fave Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The handsome 32-year-old originally bounced around the idea of playing pro basketball or, worse yet, wasting those rugged good looks as a lawyer! Thankfully, he came to his senses at the last minute. |

X-Men 3 Has a Writer! When Bryan Singer decided to throw his chips in with Superman, and leave the X-Men franchise recently, there were those who were worried about the state of X-Men 3. After all, Singer took his writers, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty, with him, while Fox had not closed any deals for any of the principal actors – Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen et al – to return. The future looked about as bleak as Days of Future Past. Writer is not Joss Whedon... |

Angel News |
Angel Season 4 Review With glaring examples such as AfterM*A*S*H*, Joanie Loves Chachi, and The Tortellis, it’s easy to see why it’s the rare spin-off that ever matches up with the original show that spawned it. And in these days of the “you’re-either-an-instant-hit-or-you’re-gone” network mentality, it’s even rarer that a new show – to say nothing of a spin-off – is given the time it needs to finds it’s audience. |

Joss News |
Astonishing X-Men #5 Review The main problem I have with this issue is that it doesn't advance the story in a direction that I found to be all that interesting. I mean the idea that has driven my interest in this story was that Joss Whedon had come up with a take on the staple "mutant cure" plot that appeared to be taking a look at both sides of the argument, but this issue makes it clear that he's decided to travel down the path that many writers have already laid out.
The Status of X-Men 3 In case you've been under a rock for awhile now, Bryan Singer has jumped ship and will direct Superman instead. No official word yet on who will replace him but Joss Whedon reportedly wants in. Production must begin by next summer if Fox wants to make its announced May 2006 release date. |

David Fury News |
Lost Message in a Bottle The premiere of ABC's LOST was not deserted when 18.7 million viewers tuned in to watch the 48-remaining passengers survive their first night on a mysterious island in the south pacific. Coming from the imagination of J.J. Abrams (Alias) and Damon Lindelof (Crossing Jordan) the drama scored a 6.8 rating with adults 18-49 becoming the largest premiere draw since Murder One back in 1995. "We were blown away by the numbers," co-producer David Fury told CoA, "even after ABC's excellent promotions." |

General News |
Frog leaps for sydication revenues TNT also schedules "Angel," the spinoff of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer," every weekday at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. "Angel" is pulling more viewers in reruns than "Buffy," which started on FX in October 2001. The teenage heroine brought more young women to FX than most of its other non-primetime shows, but "Buffy" proved something of a disappointment to the network. And it did even worse in weekend barter syndication, where it played simultaneously with its FX run. |

Marc News |
One on One with Marc Blucas Marc Blucas played an army man on Buffy, the Vampire Slayer as a member of the Initiative. Now he plays a secret service officer in First Daughter. Protecting Katie Holmes from unsavory types at the behest of her presidential father, Blucas wins hearts and takes care of business. Meeting Blucas in a hotel room, he was all laughs. A firm hand shake made me feel like I should work out more, and his quips punched up the anecdotes he’d probably been telling all day. For Buffy fans, we get to a bit of that on page two, but first check out Blucas’s secret service thoughts. |
