Firefly DVD Review After hitting gold with Buffy and its spin-off Angel, Creator Joss Whedon moved on to something completely different. Hence, Firefly was born. Joss put his heart and soul into this project and it’s a stroke of pure genius. Set in a post-apocalyptic future when humans are spread across the galaxy, it follows a the crew of the cargo-transport ship Serenity, who will take whatever job, legal or not, as long as it keeps gas in the tanks and food on the table. |

Philosophy professor discusses Buffy and the meaning of life Philosophy Professor James South will discuss "Buffy, Faith and the Meaning of Life" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in the Burton-Morgan Lecture Room, Denison University. The lecture is free and open to the public. South's newest book, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy: Fear and Trembling in Sunnydale," will be the subject of this multimedia presentation. In the tradition of classic horror films, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" addresses ethical issues that have long fascinated audiences and South's discussion will examine crucial ethical and metaphysical aspects of the "Buffyverse" (the world of Buffy). |

Angel star in talks for Dog Vincent Kartheiser, who played the vampire Angel's son Connor on the last couple of seasons on TV's "Angel", is in talks to join the cast of the ensemble film "Alpha Dog". Katheiser would join Justin Timberlake, Emile Hirsch and Sharon Stone in the film, which is based on the real life story of Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer who became one of the youngest men ever to be wanted by the FBI. |

Another Note from Jewel I thought I'd write since some things have come into play in the last few weeks. First of all, I've landed a role in a great project called "Widow on the Hill". It's a Lifetime movie, which means it'll air on TV and then go to DVD, most likely, but the script is really wonderful. And my character is very dark and troubled, which is a nice change. It's a very dramatic, suspenseful story about a... well, I can't tell you. I can say this: James Brolin plays my beloved Daddy, and Natasha Henstridge is also starring. |
