Veronica Mars part of new breed of TV characters
The ditzy dame has been a television fixture ever since Gracie Allen did what George Burns told her to do: "Say good night, Gracie." "Good night, Gracie." The airhead has been updated through the years, Goldie Hawn to Suzanne Somers to Jenna Elfman to Paris Hilton. Now a new kind of female is gaining attention without being cutesy or empty-headed. While Hollywood is preoccupied with Mean Girls, the small screen has moved on to smart girls. (Mention of Buffy further down in the article.)

Joss - X3
Is Joss Whedon being considered as rumored? Arad says yes. Whedon getting the movie will have nothing to do with how well Serenity does. The look that Avi Arad apparently gave the on-set reporters lead them to believe that Joss Whedon may indeed be directing. He also confirmed that Singer's departure was simply that Warners offered him more money for "Superman".

Joss Whedon Joins Fans in Stumping for Kerry
If there's ever been a year when Hollywood has put its muscle into the U.S. presidential election, it's been this one. And now Joss Whedon -- best known for creating "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and co-creating its spinoff, "Angel" -- is joining in.

Actress Shrugging Off TV Confines with Grudge
The show's over, but Buffy's still fighting. Instead of hunting the undead in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar is battling for movie roles and trying to shed her image as TV's favorite monster masher. Gellar won her most recent bout, convincing producer Sam Raimi that she should be the blond American actress to star in The Grudge, an adaptation of a Japanese horror film, much like The Ring was.

Gellar's Grudge
As if seven seasons of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and the films I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER and SCREAM 2 were not enough to leave her mark, Sarah Michelle Gellar is taking yet another stab at the horror genre in THE GRUDGE, Ghost House Pictures’ bid at importing the chills of the red-hot fright approach that has defined Japanese cinema over the past half-decade. Whereas other remakes of Japanese fear films have seen their productions transplanted to western shores and all references to their birth nation drained out, THE GRUDGE (opening October 22 from Columbia) was filmed exclusively in Japan. For the New York-born Gellar, this translated into a packed suitcase and an extended stay in the capital city of Tokyo.

Greg the Bunny's Button Eyes See the Future
The lights went off in Sweetknuckle Junction in August of 2002. Junction Jack, Dottie Sunshine, Greg the Bunny, Warren "The Ape" DeMonague and Fredrick "Count" Blah were all given their walking papers. For many months, it seemed like there was no place in Hollywood for the hard working fabricated Americans and their typecast human friends. As sad as it might be to imagine all of those colorful characters standing in line at the soup kitchen, having to endure racial taunts like "sock," a "Greg the Bunny" revival is building.

Sarah Michelle Gellar at The Grudge Premiere
At "The Grudge" premiere on Tuesday night, the members of the cast had more than just the usual case of opening-night jitters. It wasn't the audience's reaction or the paparazzi that they feared, it was the actual movie.

Fox Still Seeking An X-3 Director
With Bryan Singer moving on to the Superman movie project, Twentieth Century Fox officials are in need of a major reshuffle behind the scenes of the X-Men franchise. ... Simon Kinberg was recently signed as the screenwriter for "X-3," and casting has not yet begun in earnest, though a small number of core actors are already said to have signed up. It is unclear if "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon is still on the least.

Widow on the Hill: Jewel's New Project
Natasha Henstridge, James Brolin and Jewel Staite ("Firefly") are set to topline a new telefilm at the cable channel, about a hospice nurse (Henstridge) suspected of killing the ailing wife of wealthy landowner (Brolin). Staite plays the daughter of Brolin's character, who suspects the nurse did the deed after she marries her father. Production is set to begin this week with Peter Svatek directing from a script by Stephen Harrigan ("King of Texas"), which in turn is based on a Vanity Fair article by Michael Shayerson. Judy Polone ("Lucky 7"), Steven Weinstock and Glenda Hersh ("Help Wanted") are the telefilm's executive producers for Lions Gate Television.

We have confirmed that fan fave and Buffy creator Joss Whedon is still up for the job. Another director in the running is Alex Proyas who helmed 20th Century Fox's summer hit I, Robot. We were advised, however, that Proyas – who also helmed The Crow and Dark City – is not a frontrunner.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Interview
Sarah Michelle Gellar was in a chirpy, upbeat mood when we met to talk about her starring role in THE GRUDGE, the English-language remake of the Japanese horror hit. This may be a new phase in the young actress's life, who is finally back on the screen in a familiar genre for the actress who discovered fame and fortune as BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, the hit series that ended its popular run last year.

The Grudge Premiere Photos
The first set of photos from the premiere of The Grudge are now up.

Gellar is Good for Grudge 2
Sarah Michelle Gellar's horror flick "The Grudge" hasn't hit theaters yet, but the former "Buffy" star says she's keen for a sequel to the Japanese inspired scarefest. "I would go back to Japan in a heartbeat," says Gellar who filmed the "The Grudge" in Tokyo. Although the star admits that at this stage there has been no talk of a sequel. "No, we haven't really. I mean, knock on wood, but let's wait until it comes out."

:: Nathan Fillion News
Nathan Fillion - Buffy's Last Big Bad
Nathan Fillion doesn’t have much history on Buffy. He only appears in the final five episodes as the henchman to The First, the evil Caleb who beats on young girls. Hopefully, by the end, Buffy will teach him a lesson. Fillion has a history with Joss Whedon. He was the lead on Whedon’s short-lived Fox series Firefly. With that show canceled, Whedon was happy to give him a shot on Buffy.
