Serenity News |
Set Visit: Serenity With his latest project, SERENITY, prolific writer/director Joss Whedon looks to prove he can achieve success outside the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Of course, Buffy isn't exactly the easiest act to follow. Adored by both critics and audiences alike, the show became the WB Network's centerpiece, made Sarah Michelle Gellar a star, and spawned a popular spin-off. (Includes some spoilers!) |

Joss News |
Sunday Slugfest- Astonishing X-Men #6 There are those who maintain that Whedon, creator of the gone-but-never-forgotten Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly, was the only reason to own a television set for the last eight years. However, when it was announced that he would helm the premiere X-Men “Reload” book, some comic-book readers feared that Cyclops would suddenly start speaking like Xander Harris and that all of the gravitas Morrison had brought to the title— along with the psychedelic physics of his sci-fi plots (sentient bacteria, anyone?)—would be washed away with a blast of trivial teen-talk. Others saw Whedon as the ideal magnet for drawing fresh readers into the world of comics, particularly since his tenure on Astonishing X-Men would coincide with the first Whedon-free TV season in years. |

Serenity News |
Serenity Jumps from TV Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed the upcoming SF movie Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that it's been a challenge adapting his low-rated Fox TV series Firefly for the big screen. "It's incredibly hard, you know, building a story that doesn't repeat or contradict what we've already done, that satisfies the fans, and yet is really made for people who have never seen the show," Whedon said in an interview on the film's set at Universal Studios in Los Angeles last August. "[It's] incredibly tricky. There's pitfalls everywhere." |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
No More Buffy “I HAD a bunch of covers in the States all one week,” says Sarah Michelle Gellar, matter-of-factly. “Somebody said to me: ‘How do you go to the grocery store?’ But I’m the girl who hasn’t washed her hair, and is wearing jeans and a T-shirt. I don’t look like I do in the magazines in the supermarket. That’s not me at all.” Obviously, this is all very humble and refreshing and down-to-earth. But, to be honest, it’s sheer nonsense.
More Grudge Hit horror flick THE GRUDGE, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, will get a sequel. Stephen Susco, who wrote THE GRUDGE, will also pen the follow-up. Producers will be Sam Raimi, Rob Tappert, Roy Lee, and Doug Davidson, who all worked on the first movie. It is unknown at this point if Gellar will star in the sequel or if Takashi Shimizu will direct.
Gellar Cast in Another Horror Flick BUFFY star Sarah Michelle Gellar will headline in the supernatural thriller REVOLVER directed by Asif Kapadia. REVOLVER follows the life of a tough and successful saleswoman whose vivid nightmares drive her to investigate the mysterious death of another young woman 25 years earlier. Adam Sussman wrote the script and Aaron Ryder will produce.
Gellar Tops Revolver Fresh off the success of her hit horror film The Grudge, star Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed on to headline Revolver, a supernatural thriller film, for Focus Features' Rogue Pictures, Variety reported. Asif Kapadia (The Warrior) will direct Revolver, which follows a tough, successful saleswoman whose vivid nightmares drive her to investigate the mysterious death of another young woman 25 years earlier, the trade paper reported. Adam Sussman wrote the script, and Aaron Ryder will produce through his Raygun Productions company. No start date has been set. |

Astonishing X-Men #6 Review Out of all the X-Titles at the moment its fantastic to see at least one of them continue to push the boundaries and maintain a standard throughout. Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men has certainly done just that. |

Buffy teen heroine with the weight of the world on her shoulders It’s tempting to play marketer and describe the new UPN show Veronica Mars as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Raymond Chandler. But in this smart, engaging series about a former popular girl turned crime-solving high school outcast, the hard-boiled dialogue comes from its teen protagonist’s mouth in a way that stabs any potential cutesiness in the heart with an ice pick. |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
Sarah Michelle Gellar: A Conversation Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to the screen this week in Takashi Shimizu's monumentally frightening horror remake, The Grudge. Empire caught up with Gellar in her suite at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Knightsbridge - which, it turns out, is surprisingly hard to find - with a mind to probing the depths of this oriental frightfest and discovering the actress's insights into the horror genre, people's atavistic reaction to the supernatural and the psychology of fear itself.
Buffy Dons Skirts to Turn Male Slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar who shot to fame with her role in the hit television series, Buffy the Vampire slayer has revealed that she can now finally get out of her pants, which she wore to hide the bruises she got during the making of the serial. |

Serenity News |
More from the Serenity Panel 'Mikey' returns with more details from the "Serenity" panel at the White Room Convention that took place on the weekend at the Heathrow Thistle, London. Here's the full breakdown of the second day of antics: The Sunday Firelfly talk at the White Room Convention at the Heathrow Thistle, London, was scheduled to be Nathan Fillion (Captain Malcolm Reynolds), Morena Baccarin (Inara Serra) and also Summer Glau (River Tam), who had only popped in briefly on Saturday. The teaser trailer, as premiered at the ComicCon earlier in the year, had already been shown twice at the opening ceremony (the audience cheered so much the first time they missed most of the dialogue). Nathan was asked, although there were lots obviously lots of guns in the film, would there be any horses. His response was, "Summer?" Summer, instead of answering, started to laugh. The questioner then asked if he would ever shoot a horse again, to which he honestly couldn't say. |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
In chapter one, she slayed ’em. Chapter two is just beginning When Sarah Michelle Gellar, the recently retired teenage queen of scream, arrives, it feels like the arrival of royalty. Her blonde hair is impossibly well primped. From her ears dangle gold jewellery, and around her shoulders there's a matching gold shawl. Her make-up, too, is perfect.
Singing Slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar is looking for a record deal. The Daily Express reports that Gellar could be the next Dido, if her mission to secure a record deal is a success.
Gellar: The next Dido? Hollywood babe Satah Michelle Gellar has been reportedly touting herself as the next Dido as she looks for a recording deal. Eliza Dushku News |
Are Breasts Enough to Save Tru Calling? Well, so much for the power of the boobs. Fox may end up cancelling "Tru Calling" after all. My fiancee has this theory about the "power of the boobs," in which an ample chest will make things happen for a well-endowed woman. And that has to have been the operative principle behind Fox's initial decision last spring to renew Eliza Dushku's supernatural series while giving the axe to so many other worthy genre shows. |

High Stakes Hootenanny In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a lifelong Democrat, and I'm voting for John Kerry. That said, I briefly considered voting for Bush while at the Joss Whedon Fundraiser for Kerry, High Stakes 2004. It's not that I don't have a lot of love for Joss Whedon or John Kerry, it's just that I'm infuriatingly contrary. If I'm in a room full of people who all agree that something rocks, I must be the asshole pontificating on why that thing sucks ass. I am that jerk. |
