Summer Glau News |
Diving into Serenity's River Summer Glau, who reprises the role of River in the upcoming SF movie Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that the film version of Fox's canceled Firefly will resolve many questions about her enigmatic character. "We were setting up all the characters [in the TV show]," Glau said in an interview during a break in filming last summer at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. "We were going back into the past and trying to set up each storyline for each character. And my character was just getting started, and now in the film you're really going to see an explosion of what's really going on with River. It’s going to be exciting." Firefly/Serenity News |
Pilot Error for Space Cowboys Writer/director Joss Whedon had given the American Fox Network two of its defining shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, but he knew something was awry even before his new show, Firefly (cast pictured), went to air in September 2002.
A Visit to Serenity Set Joss Whedon stands, hoarse-voiced, telling the many flanking journalists, "Today, I'm deciding whether or not to use this shot. Whether it's realistic enough or it looks too fancy." There is currently a woman and two men hanging from wires in a futuristic bar. This is the set of Serenity, Joss Whedon's adaptation of his "failure" of a TV show Firefly. |

Alan Tudyk News |
Alan Tudyk Talks Serenity I usually get a few comments from actors about their upcoming comments, but it’s rare that you get basically a full interview while somebody’s promoting another film. To be fair, I will present Alan Tudyk’s interview for I, Robot later this week. But for now, here’s all he had to say about Serenity, the feature length film based on the short-lived TV series Firefly. Tudyk played the ship’s pilot, Wash Warren. On TV, the ship explored different worlds as a sort of space western, without aliens. Joss Whedon makes his feature film directing debut with the film, named after the ship. |

BtVS News |
The Best of Buffy Tomorrow the seventh and final season of one of my all-time favorite TV shows hits stores on DVD: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was a late convert to the show, having been turned off by the original film, the network it aired on, and the title. But by season three I had been convinced to check it out and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with the unique mix of monsters, humor, continuity, great writing and sexy babes kicking ass. |

Serenity Star Ready for Film Nathan Fillion, who stars as Capt. Mal Reynolds in the upcoming SF movie Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that he doesn't feel a lot of pressure in his first major feature-film lead role, based on his character from Fox's canceled TV series Firefly. "I don't feel a lot of that pressure," Fillion said in an interview during a break in filming at Universal Studios in Los Angeles last summer. "My schedule is much the same as it was on the series: I'm here a lot. But I get to perform with everybody in the cast. I get to have great scenes with all of these great characters that I fell in love with. I don't feel a great deal of pressure. You know what? I'm starting to feel the thing, now that it's wrapping up, [where] I just really hope people enjoy this movie. |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
Calendar Gellar Sarah Michelle Gellar's done a sexy seasonal photoshoot for Esquire magazine. The December issue of slightly-upmarket men's mag Esquire features a twelve page photoshoot and interview with the Buffy star.
Lost Buffy Gellar explains the real reasons she quit. In the latest Big Issue, Sarah Michelle Gellar discusses why she didn't want to carry on making Buffy.
Gellar's Grudge Against Buffy I saw a new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” episode last weekend. Well, at least at first I thought it was a new “Buffy” episode. It was the same blonde figure, with the familiar inflections in her voice, facing off against supernatural beings of questionable origin and even more questionable motive. |

Serenity News |
Serenity Set Visit When a series is cancelled after a season, it is seldom heard from again, much less in feature film form. Serenity is that rare beast. After a difficult and brief 14 episode run on Fox, Firefly (the title of the show) was given the axe, albeit prematurely in the opinions of a small but very loyal fan base. Those fans rallied together with online petitions and calls to the network. Although the show was dead, Whedon realized there was still a possibility of continuing the life of the world and characters he had created. Whedon was still very passionate to tell their story. (Article contains some spoilers)
Serenity Surprises Whedon Joss Whedon, writer and director of the upcoming SF movie Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that shooting the feature-film version of his Fox TV series Firefly is every bit as stressful as churning out an hour of TV drama every week. "It's been as stressful, and I thought it'd be less stressful," Whedon said in an interview during a break in filming last summer at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. "I thought I'd be, you know, golfing in between takes and writing sonnets." |
