Joss News |
Don't Count on Whedon for X-Men 3 'Devin' at CHUD just chatted with "X-Men" series producer Lauren Shuler Donner who said not to count out "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," and "Firefly" creator Joss Whedon for the director's chair of X-Men 3. My first question was why Joss Whedon ISN'T going to be taking the reins on X3. "I'm a huge fan of Joss'," Lauren told me. "Nothing is certain yet." Lauren says that she would still love to work with him on the film. |

Shift from TV to fan fiction website cuts Buffy's ratings An eighth season of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer," which is currently being chronicled on the website Buffyfanfiction.net, has featured some major new developments in the young heroine’s life. "I think our readers were caught way off guard when the new season opened with Buffy admitting her long simmering love for Giles," commented Buffyfanfiction.net programming executive and webmaster Cory Brown. "And people won’t believe what’s coming up for November sweeps, when we do a crossover with the cast over at DeepSpace9liveson.com." |

Jeph Loeb News |
Jeph Loeb Talks Animated Buffy It has been rumoured that you are working on Buffy: The Animated Series. Can you give us any information about this show? Like any great Buffy story, it had to die so it could be resurrected as something new and special. I can't get into specifics, but Buffy fans everywhere will very soon have something to rejoice about. And everything you've heard about the show, if it didn't come from either me or Joss is utter B.S. We've kept this so underwraps, the rest -- even direct quotes -- are just rumors and hearsay. It's the real deal and it'll be soon when we can be more specific. |

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 7 Review For five seasons, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the most inventive, imaginative and intellectual shows on television. Sporting a caustic wit and a never-ending drive to surprise, the tales of a do-gooder crew of demon fighters fronted by a cheerleader named Buffy never failed to entertain. Then, show creator Joss Whedon, one of the most talented people in all of entertainment, made a pair of simultaneous missteps. The first was to move the show from its home network to UPN, a competitor willing to pay more for the same series. The other was to launch a third series while already juggling Buffy and its spinoff, Angel. |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
The Grudge: Review Things are different on television. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a sort of comic horror show - albeit not very scary - and women were always at its centre, and not usually as victims. Instead, Buffy demonised male sexuality, literally. The girls regularly beat up horny devils who struggled to control their cloven-hoofed, brutish desires - Spike and Angel, in particular. All of which means that the casting of Sarah Michelle Gellar in this Japanese horror film brings its own cultural meaning. Will Buffy get slain? |

BtVS News |
Why Buffy still Slays Us "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was TV's most unlikely pop-culture phenomenon since "The X-Files." It is a series with humble beginnings (the movie, starring Kristy Swanson, was a minor cult hit and a critical failure in 1992), a tongue-in-cheek title and a premise that reads like a comic book. So how did a snappy fantasy about vampires, demons and a high-school cutie born to dispatch them between homework assignments evolve? How did "Buffy" move from a whip-smart collision of hormonal turmoil, supernatural soap opera, apocalyptic adventure and sly humor to the most human exploration of death, grief, sacrifice and self-actualization on TV? |
