Is Charisma Carpenter a Wonder Woman?
According to ContactMusic.com, Joss Whedon - yep, seems it's as official as the ring on my finger - wants his former Slayer to put on the Wonder-Bra. Sarah Michelle Gellar is Director Whedon's first choice to play "Wonder Woman" in the recently announced pic. Funnily enough, another "Buffy" club member is also on Whedon's wish-list to pilot the Invisible Jet. "Joss has told the studio that Sarah is his first choice followed by Charisma [Carpenter]. Sarah expressed an interest, but the producers are more interested in Charisma because she is less well known." Carpenter, who worked with Whedon on both "Buffy" and "Angel", expressed her interest in playing the DC comic book heroine a few months back. Some said her "Playboy" appearance had hurt her chances though. Maybe Producer Joel likes the fold-outs, eh? Guess we'll find out shortly.

Firefly to Return to Small Screen?
Many people doubted that the idea of a space western would float. And to some extent they were correct. When “Firefly” made its debut last year, it was critically acclaimed. But its less than stellar ratings ultimately led to its demise.

Serenity Review by a non-Firefly Fan (SPOILERS)
I was talking to my Jedi Council pal “Frosty Skywalker” – as big a “Star Wars” booster as you’ll hope to find and a man who doesn’t know from “Firefly” – and he loooooved “Serenity,” and is probably even now standing in line to buy the DVD set.

:: Joss Whedon News
Whedon's Absence Leaves a Vast Wasteland
Let it be said that at least Buffy and Angel had long runs; The lone season of Firefly, on the other hand, was broadcast out of order and nixed before given a fair chance (another grudge to hold against Fox). But why doesn’t the brilliant Whedon have networks fighting over his complex creations? Newitz cites oft-repeated concerns that Whedon’s alternative worlds are in fact too alternative for our reality-obsessed culture, or perhaps “fantasy and science fiction are just too retro 20th century”:

:: Angie Hart News
Angie the Vampire Slayer
In a certain parallel universe to this one, Angie Hart has a rather splendid claim to fame. And no, it has nothing to do with singing Accidentally Kelly Street or covering Bizarre Love Triangle. Nor with her post-Frente band, the quiet electro-poppers Splendid. You see, Hart made two appearances on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, performing her slow-burning, quiet-voiced songs in the Bronze, the Sunnydale nightclub frequented by the neighbourhood's teens and teen-gobbling vampires.

:: Joss Whedon News
Ronald D. Moore Is SyFy Portal's Top Newsmaker Of 2004And at no. 2 it's Joss Whedon: From stumping for former Presidential candidate John Kerry to reviving his failed "Firefly" series as a feature film, Joss Whedon has been a busy man.

The latest news has Whedon attached to a proposed "Wonder Woman" movie project, but even as he's putting the finishing touches on "Serenity" -- the motion picture based on "Firefly" -- his name continues to be bantied about as a possible replacement for Bryan Singer in the X-Men franchise. Of course, he has continued to deny that he has been approached by Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Enterprises to pick up the third installment of the series. Fans continue to campaign for the return of Whedon's previous works like "Angel," which ended this past year. But it's hard to tell if there will be anything coming from Buffyverse in the near future -- it looks like comic books will be keeping Whedon busy for some time to come.

First Look: Astonishing X-Men #7 (Spoilers)
stonishing X-Men #7 will arrive in stores on Wednesday, Dec. 22 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Joss Whedon, with art and cover by John Cassaday. Here's how Marvel describes the book: "'Enemy of the State,' part 3 of 6. The Fantastic Four is trapped in the Baxter Building with the world's deadliest weapon... Wolverine! Think this is as good as it gets for Wolverine? You tell us, folks -- all we're thinking right now is that four against one isn't a fair fight... for the Four, that is..."

Best Appearance by a Guest Puppet
UPN put the stake in “Angel” last spring but not before the “Buffy” spinoff managed to once again remind us how brilliant it could be. In “Smile Time,” the vampire with a soul is turned into a puppet while investigating sinister doings at a children’s TV show. Alternately hysterically funny and very very creepy, the episode managed to send up not only children’s TV but the “Angel” series itself.

:: Joss Whedon News
O Joss! My Joss!
It's been almost a year since the last drop of Joss got wrung out of TV, and still I can barely stand to turn on the damn thing. Oh sure, there's the fleeting joy of The Daily Show, but it just leaves you feeling cold and alone. There are the dubious charms of Lost, but its cookie-cutter plotlines and beefy male stereotypes are barely worth enduring for the show's few moments of brilliant creepiness. And I don't do CSI, so let's not even go there, OK?

Joss To Write & Direct Wonder Woman?
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” mastermind Joss Whedon may write and direct a big-screen “Wonder Woman”? While Fox is still secretly pursuing Whedon for “X-Men 3”?? I tell you it’s crazy enough to be true!

Wonder Woman
Ain't It Cool News is rumoring that "Joss Whedon is in final negotiations with Joel Silver and Warner Bros. to write and direct WONDER WOMAN for Summer 2006 ... The only possible thing standing in this picture's way is X-MEN 3. I know what's been said, but Fox is still coming after him hard to direct that, and that's a tough thing for a guy like Joss to pass up."

Wonder Woman Buzz
AICN's scooper claims that "the only possible thing standing in this picture's way is X-Men 3. I know what's been said, but Fox is still coming after (Whedon) hard to direct that, and that's a tough thing for a guy like Joss to pass up. But he probably will. For Wonder Woman," which the scooper adds is slated for a 2006 release.

More than One Serenity
The good folks at IESB caught up with some of the cast of "Serenity", and tried to get some goodies out of them. Of course, the stars had to stay mum on the plot and any other details that might spoil the movie, but all of them were quite keen to reveal Universal's plans for more than one Feature, should the "Firefly" adaptation become a big hit.

Serenity Test Screenings
Rumor has it, test screenings start in LA tomorrow for Serenity. Oh to live in SoCal. I don't have any info on how to get tickets, but my personal experience is that they tend to give them away to tourists around the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Summer Glau Talks About Serenity
Would you say Joss Whedon's style of directing changes based on which actor he’s working with at the time? I think so. I think he chooses his people – first of all, we got along like family – and he understands us, each as individuals. He knows how to talk to us. He knows I’m really shy and insecure. He knows how to motivate me and bring out my best, keep me from being afraid. I’m the type of person where I panic and think, “I can’t do it! I don’t know what I’m doing here. Let me leave!” And he’ll talk me down and he’s my hero. Check the link for the entire interview.
