Joss Whedon News |
Satu Rautaharju as Joss Whedon's 'Wonder Woman'? Hollywood sources report that they've seen "Communication Breakdown" star Satu Rautaharju's name mentioned in regards to playing the DC Comics amazon on the big screen. The Warner Brothers project, from super producer Joel Silver, will (most likely) be helmed by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" head honcho Joss Whedon, who's big screen directorial debut, "Serenity," hits theaters in September. Such names as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Angelina Jolie, Mini Driver, and Charisma Carpenter have been bandied about, but insiders speculate that the studio will attempt to build a new franchise on a lesser known, younger star. The exotic twenty-two year old Rautaharju, a Canadian of Finnish and Trinidadian descent, has appeared on such television programs as "Dawson's Creek" and "One Tree Hill" and provides the English-speaking voice for the character of Benten in the animated "Urusei Yatsura" series. |

Angel News |
IDW Heralds the Returns of Angel to Comics Last time we saw Angel, things didn’t look too good for him. His TV show was ending, his comics had stopped and he faced seemingly insurmountable odds. But he wouldn’t be Angel if he didn’t battle his way back to the forefront. Angel, who originally built his fan base when he appeared on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, before spinning off to his own successful TV show, is a man in conflict. With his own vampiric side, as well as with the seedier elements of the supernatural world. One of the reasons Angel has been able to survive for so long is that he’s been surrounded by a support team of friends and fellow warriors. Until now, that is. |

General News |
Watch with Kristin Lest there be any confusion why I attended the WB's 10th anniversary celebration, let it be clear: I wanted my mug on a Buffy poster. And my good friend Noel Broehner of Angel City Cam was doing just that at the soiree site, giving partygoers the option of becoming such longtime WB faves as a shirtless Clark Kent, a pensive Dawson Leery or a hoochie-coochied Halliwell honey. The result? For this too-old, too-brunet Buffy, pathetic. But I did score some scoop on your favorite WB stars. So, whaddya say I spill? |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
The Grudge Producers on SMG for The Grudge 2 Will Sarah Michelle Gellar be Back? Tapert: We loved working with Sarah and right now our intention is to use her character in the sequel. It's really her decision if she wants to come back and do it, but we loved the experience and love working with her and think she was not only an asset to bringing in an audience but to taking an American cast and an all Japanese crew and working in a strange land, she was the camp leader. She was the one who when the new people came over, she rallied, 'Hey, let's go out to dinner, let's go to the fish market, let's do all those things.' So she was really kind of the beacon for all the non Japanese speaking people who came to Japan. So to work with somebody like that again would be great. |

Danny Strong News |
Danny #5 in Top 10 Current TV Characters Doyle (Danny Strong), "Gilmore Girls". Strong is one of those actors who is so distinct he can't help but bring a bit of himself to every role he plays. But that's not a bad thing here, since Yale student newspaper editor Doyle is almost like a continuation of the "Superstar" Jonathan character seen in an alternate-universe "Buffy" episode. Now that Doyle is paired with Paris, the laughs will keep coming. |

Angel Merchandise News |
Angel Fans, Rejoice ALAS, Angel is no more. The television series was cancelled after its fifth season and fans longing for more of Buffy’s beau, the vampire with a soul, can have this book to remember the show by. (And, of course, the pricey Angel DVD box sets as well.) Angel is the spin-off of popular cult TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Considered a “darker” version of Buffy, Angel revolves around Angel, the Slayer’s vampire ex who fights evil in Los Angeles with his companions via a supernaturally inclined detective agency called Angel Investigations. |

Firefly/Serenity News |
Small Review of Firefly Adam Baldwin, whose career began in the great high school movie My Bodyguard back in 1980, finally has the role of his career. Gina Torres, a survivor of the Matrix sequels, is boldly credible as soldier-of-fortune Zoe; Morena Baccarin is luminous as the "companion" (i.e., really expensive prostitute) Inara Serra; and Alan Tudyk, a hit in A Knight's Tale, is equally charming as the pilot, Wash. Delightful as Ron Glass was on Barney Miller and The New Odd Couple, I think he's got his best role here as the enigmatic preacher. While Sean Maher has recovered from the debacle of the remake of Brian's Song to play a truly complicated (and really cute, my wife tells me) character. And Nathan Fillion rises out of nowhere -- small forgettable parts where he was little more than a pretty face -- to show that he has the strength to carry a tv series. They're making a movie called Serenity, to be released next September, and the whole cast will appear in it. Count on it getting bad reviews; go anyway. And prepare for it by buying or renting the Firefly DVDs. |

Alexis Denisof news |
Alyson Tells What Hubby Alexis is Up to These Days "He is experiencing his very first pilot season," she told me on the telephone last week, "which is really cute. Because he came out here and basically just booked things, which led to him being on Buffy and then on Angel. There are all these casting directors out there who have never met him." Aly says she's trying to convince her hubby to "go for comedy because he's very funny, but he's more secure with the one-hour drama. I'm like, "Come on, honey — just try the comedy." |

Tim Minear News |
TV Shows You Missed Nobody watched Wonderfalls. It aired on Fox early last year as a midseason replacement. It was an hour long comedy/drama about a smart, disaffected, sarcastic girl in her early twenties who had graduated from Brown University and, completely unmotivated, worked in a gift shop at Niagra Falls. Her job sucked, her family was insane, she kind of hated life and, oh yes, inanimate objects began to talk to her. |

Joss Whedon News |
Will Whedon do Shadowmancer? Sunndale fave Joss Whedon is Fortitude and Universal's first choice to pen the film script for Graham Taylor's first book, "Shadowmancer", according to whitebytoday. Taylor sold the movie rights to the book last year, for about $3 million. Filming is likely to take place next year, with much of it on the coast between Scarborough and Whitby. "They have it farmed out to six or seven scriptwriters. Once the script has been sorted they can go from pre-production to production and start filming. Universal and Fortitude want Joss Whedon who created Buffy the Vampire Slayer to do it. He's their number one choice and he is my number one choice, but he might be busy because he's already working on another project with Universal", says Taylor. Talking of Whedon, UIP in Australia has slotted in "Serenity" for a November release (a couple of months behind the states). |

Marti Noxon News |
Jonathan Bernstein's Aerial View of America (Point Pleasant Review) A mysterious, troubled young stranger shows up in a picturesque coastal resort populated solely by the privileged and beautiful. A good-hearted local couple accept the stranger as an instant addition to their family. The couple's solitary oddball offspring forms an immediate bond with the stranger. With my inimitable gift for misdirection, I'm leading you to believe I'm talking about The OC. But no! I'm talking about the new Fox show that comes on straight after The OC and has the exact same plot, except for the subtle difference that the mysterious stranger is the pouty blonde daughter of ... Satan! (Spoilers for the first episode) |
