Sarah M. Gellar News |
Sapphic Casting? Who would "The L Word" star Jennifer Beals most like to see in a lesbian love romp? "I want Buffy - I want Sarah Michelle Gellar on the show," the 41-year-old Beals told Lowdown at Showtime's second-season premiere party at Duvet. "I've told [executive producer] Ilene [Chaiken], ad nauseam. She just laughs and walks away. I'm going to try again this year, and we'll see what happens. It's set in L.A, so Sarah could be herself." Yesterday Gellar's rep said: "She'd be flattered - who wouldn't be? Jennifer Beals is an icon." |

David Boreanaz News |
Beyond the Slimy Wall: Valentine Sometimes you watch a film for all the wrong reasons. Maybe you’re over at a friend’s house and whilst flipping channels, he lands on a film that you wouldn’t otherwise choose, but watch to be polite. Or perhaps you’re out on a movie date, and all the films you wanted to see are sold out, and there’s only one film available that you haven’t seen. And occasionally, you watch a film because a favorite actor is starring in it, and you decide to give it a look-see. It was that last reason that got me to watch Valentine. Well, sort of. |

Angel DVD News |
Angel Final Season Visual Feast on DVD Start planning those marathons. On Tuesday, the saga of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel will finally be entirely on DVD, thanks to the arrival of Angel: Season Five (Fox, 22 episodes, six discs, $59.98). This gives the saga of the vampire with a soul an ending, if not an entirely tidy one. I don't really like the going-down-fighting conclusion, which suggested the characters in the fight were meeting their end, but didn't end it so absolutely as to rule out reunion projects down the road. |

Marti Noxon News |
Blonde anti-Christ turns out to be not another Buffy Apparently they've cast a pretty blonde girl as the anti-Christ on The O.C. Oh no, wait, that was just the pilot episode for Point Pleasant. Never mind. As one of the many deprived Buffy and Angel fans out there, I thought Point Pleasant, which premiered on Fox last month, was going to be, well, good. After all, it was created by Marti Noxon, one of the producers and sometimes writer-director for Buffy, that amazing cult series, and Angel, its moderately successful spin-off. So it's safe to say that Noxon had the credentials to warrant a little confidence in her newest project. But, just like the sort-of ominous but mostly stupid dialogue in the first two episodes, she just didn't deliver. |

Jeff Mariotte News |
An Interview with Jeff Mariotte This June writer Jeff Mariotte continues Joss Whedon's TV series, Angel, in a five-issue comic book story called The Curse. Published by IDW, The Curse picks up some time after the show’s fifth season finale. Mariotte is well versed in Angel lore, having written eight novels based on the series, as well as a behind-the-scenes book, “Angel: The Casefiles.” The first of many Angel comics planned at IDW, The Curse follows Angel as he searches for the band of gypsies that cursed him with a soul. I talked to Jeff about resurrecting a cult-favorite TV series as a comic book, the pressure of pleasing Angel fans and whether or not Joss Whedon left any season six notes lying around. |

Joss Whedon News |
Joss Whedon Honoured with Library Donation Last year the WB Network gave fans of Joss Whedon’s “Angel” a unique Valentines Day present: it cancelled the show. Knowing not to expect flowers and candy this year either, fans decided to try to repair the damage to their broken hearts by sharing what they love with those in need. The Whedonverse Multimedia Project is an organization of fans who wish to bring the shows created by Joss Whedon to public libraries, hospitals, shelters and other organizations in need of DVDs or books.

Angel News |
TV Guide's Ask Matt - Angel Telemovies Question: Do you believe that WB ever had any interest in the idea of telemovies for Angel or are they frantically dissembling? I, for one, would be very interested in a telemovie showcasing the prodigious talents of Mr. James Marsters, reprising the role of Spike. I'm very surprised that WB claims never to have considered this idea as likely to be popular. What are your thoughts on this matter? Matt: When WB let Angel get away — a mistake if you look at the network's current impoverished landscape — the suggestion of possible movies revisiting the Angel or Buffy worlds was no doubt lip service intended to assuage the grief of Joss Whedon fans everywhere. (Didn't work.) And since Joss has for the moment suspended his TV operations, it's pretty clear that this was a pipe dream at best, but more likely just hollow PR from WB with no basis in reality. Of course I'd like to see a Spike movie, or series, or even just have him show up in an episode of something random. But I'm not counting on it. |

Unholy Set Just a quick follow-up on the story we previously posted about the new indie film Unholy starring Adrienne Barbeau and "Buffy" man Nicholas Brendon (read it here). Writer/producer Sam Freeman forwarded us what appears to be a .pdf of the paper from the area in which the movie's being shot, which featured the first behind-the-scenes pics from the set! |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
Scooby-Doo 3 News When asked if there was a possibilty of a Scooby 3: I kinda - ashamed to admit - liked "Scooby 2" as well (maybe the Silverstone factor?). To answer this question, here's writer James Gunn : "No scooby doo 3 - at least not now and almost for sure without me, raja, lillard, Linda, and the prinze-gellars. I predict a straight to video title in a couple years with a resurrected Jim varney as shaggy". |

BtVS Merchandise News |
Buffy is back in a 'Starter Set' this time; we've got info and art! A week ago sharp-eyed readers noticed our story about Fox Home Entertainment's "Starter Set" program, in which a group of TV properties from the studio each get a separate single-disc release containing a sampling of episodes from the show's first season. It's quite similar to a program Warner did in the middle of 2004. |

Angel News |
Will Angel Viewers Follow Character to Comic? Yesterday IDW issued a press release confirming the return of Joss Whedon's Angel in a five-issue mini-series that picks up where the TV show left off. Titled Angel: The Curse, the mini follows Angel as he searches for the Gypsy clan that cursed him with a soul years ago. First, let me say that I'm a huge "Angel" fan. The series was easily my favorite show on television. But as excited as I am to hear the character is returning, I can't help but wonder, how will Angel fans who don’t read comics know his adventures are continuing? |
