How to Succeed at Vampire Slaying and Keep Your Soul Soul By Jane Espenson, Jane Espenson, a TV writer and producer, has worked on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Gilmore Girls" and many other shows. She is co-executive producer of "The Inside," a Fox TV show scheduled for the f. I've been a television writer for a dozen years, and I've been fortunate to put words in the mouths of some great female characters. They've been working women, mostly, and I like to think they've become role models for a generation of girls trying to figure out their futures. |

Adam Baldwin News |
Adam in New Show The Peacock has snatched up the rights to the four-hour Hallmark Entertainment-produced mini-series, which stars Steve Guttenberg, Peter Weller, Rutger Hauer, Bryan Brown and Adam Baldwin. The project was originally targeted for the Hallmark Channel itself, however NBC - hoping to find another tentpole mini-series event - snagged the Robert Halmi-produced adaptation for roughly $20 million. "Adventure" then will air at some point during the 2005-06 season, well before the big-budget Wolfgang Petersen-directed feature (set to hit theatres in May 2006). |

Expanding his repertoire, Marsters ditches his dark persona and morphs from spooky to suave in the lighthearted USA caper film Cool Money, which supposedly has some basis in reality.

Morena Baccarin News |
Film Review: Way Off Broadway This mildly engaging but never entirely convincing ensemble piece feels much like a first-timer's roman a clef. Centering on a quintet of friends poised between the collegiate cocoon and the less accommodating world of adulthood, "Way Off Broadway" trades in familiar conflicts between self-fulfillment and survival. The cast's chemistry helps, but the story lacks a necessary dramatic heat. |

James Marsters News |
Cool Money We don't expect much from an original telepic running Saturday night on the USA Network, which is what makes "Cool Money" such a nice little surprise. It's actually pretty good as opposed to a date-night throwaway, one of those "inspired by true events" flicks that isn't really fact-based but isn't totally concocted, either. It stars James Marsters -- who played Spike the punk-goth vampire on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and then "Angel" -- as Bobby Comfort, a career thief who mines a legal loophole to get an early release from his latest prison stint.
Angel Vamp's Afterlife of Crime Since Angel was dispatched to TV-show heaven, James Marsters' admirers have had a helluva time getting a fix of the actor formerly known as Spike. (Sadly, The Mountain peaked before his character even had a chance to recur. And the Spike TV-movie is only a fantasy for now.) So Saturday's USA movie, Cool Money (airing at 9 pm/ET), is guaranteed to get fans' blood pumping. |

Buffy Creator Lassos Wonderwoman Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon is preparing to bring to life another formidable female character in his latest movie endeavour. Whedon as signed to write and direct "Wonder Woman", a live-action film adaptation of the DC Comics character, for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Whedon for Wonderwoman He’s been rumoured for ages, as we reported here, but Joss Whedon has finally been confirmed as writer and director of the new Wonder Woman film. It is news that, frankly, has us clasping our braceleted wrists together and spinning around for sheer delight – while incidentally deflecting bullets like the Amazonian princess herself. |

James Marsters News |
Cool Money Review Cool Money is a fact-based heist movie that plays far too nice with its characters -- specifically, a benign career criminal and family man who pulls off a dizzying string of New York hotel robberies. Latest installment of USA Network's True Crime series makes a tepid showcase for the charismatic James Marsters. |

Michelle Trachtenberg News |
Fywell's Ice Princess Wins The Silver Medal As figure-skating movies go, "Ice Princess" is a solid silver-medal winner. It doesn't score high in degree of difficulty. But it is technically flawless, and artistically it sticks the landing. Here's a G-rated movie that isn't embarrassed to wear that label and show just how challenging and worthwhile "wholesome" can be. The fakery is utterly hidden. You'll believe the former "Harriet the Spy"/"Buffy" underling Michelle Trachtenberg is a serious skater. As Casey, she's the fresh-faced flavor of the month, a pretty girl the filmmakers want to pass off as a school wallflower ("the science nerd"). Skating brings her out of her shell. |
