Serenity News |
Joss Whedon to Bridge Firefly & Serenity With Three Issue Comic Series from Dark Horse This fall Oscar and Emmy-nominated writer/director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) makes his big-screen directorial debut with Universal Pictures' Serenity, the futuristic action-adventure feature film follow-up to his cult-hit TV show Firefly. Firefly told the tale of a ship full of mercenaries, outlaws, fugitives, and one law-abiding prostitute running across the fringes of space. The Serenity film continues the story, and Dark Horse is proud to present a three-issue comic book miniseries that takes place between the TV show and feature film.
Serenity Producer Chris Buchanan Blown Away by Screening Sell Outs The situation is truly "fluid" because of the amazing response to the screenings. I can't promise anything, but you should stay tuned to the boards (including the Universal board) for news. Browncoatless people are starting to find out what an entertaining film SERENITY turned out to be (not that it's even finished yet!) and are spreading the word. It's really exciting for all of us involved in the film. |

Sarah M. Gellar News |
A Hunting Gellar goes in WIP Flick Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to star in Warner Independent Pictures' untitled Marc Klein project, based on the stories from Melissa Bank's book, "A Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing." Odd Lot Entertainment's Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker are producing along with Darryl Taja. The story follows a young New York book editor (Gellar) who always has defined herself by the type of man she can get. When she meets and ensnares the affections of an older, very powerful and extremely sophisticated man, she thinks her problems are solved when they've only just begun. Klein wrote the screenplay. |

Serenity News |
HD Trailer Reviews: Serenity Ahhh. Sweet Serenity. Joss Whedon brings the cancelled-by-Fox Firefly to the big screen. Some players from past projects tag along, including Jasmine (Gina Torres) from Season 4 of Angel. It all looks great, although Nathan Fillion's country-boy accent sounds forced, probably because he's originally from Canada. The special effects are terrific and there will be no halleluiah choruses on this soundtrack, thank you. What I'm most looking forward to are the Joss Whedonisms. We get only a small sampling from the trailer, as our heroes rocket into battle:
Serenity Screenings Sold Out Advance screenings of the upcoming movie "Serenity" were announced last week, with ten showings in ten cities on May 5. Universal had an advertising campaign all ready to go but didn't need it as tickets sold out by the next morning. Some theater managers were even threatened by overly enthusiastic fans. |

Seth Green News |
Seth Green's Twisted Mind Breeds A Hit 'Toon That's just one of dozens of skits aimed at the pop culture junkies who have made Green's "Robot Chicken" (Sundays, 11:30 p.m.) the hottest new show on the Cartoon Network. And with his return last night to primetime TV — as the voice of the Griffin family's teenaged son, Chris, on the FCC-envelope-pushing comedy, "Family Guy" — Green appears to have several fingers on the medium's comedic pulse at once. |

Spike TV Movie News |
Marsters and Whedon in talks for Spike pic? Q : Is there going to be a Spike movie? JM : Hopefully. I talked to Joss two weeks ago and he asked me if I was still up for it. I would love to do it but we’re on a clock. I’m a middle-aged man and in 5 years I will be (thinks) I will be 48. Vampires can’t age so it must be done soon. Spike needs to have something to aim for, to win the girl, lose the girl, something like that. For those not-in-the-know, Whedon's keen on doing a telemovie that centres on the character of Spike, from both "Buffy" and "Angel". The WB network has yet to give the thumbs up to it. Watch this creamy white space. |

Serenity News |
Early Serenity Review (SPOILERS) Now that Star Wars Revenge of the Sith is quickly approaching we need sci-fi adventure films that give us something to look forward to after the monumental occasion on May19th. While I thought this call might remain unanswered, the Serenity trailer popped up on the web and took my breath away. And, to top it off, there are already early positive reviews pouring in from Australia. |

BtVS Merchandise News |
Spike follow-up: artwork for, well, SOMEthing ('Love Is Hell') Fox has distribtued cover art for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer release called "Spike: Love is Hell", which you can see below. The sticker says this includes 4 "killer" episodes and a bonus Spike Featurette. Fox Home Video distibuted the art, but no further info like a date, price, etc. We're not sure if this is the same thing as the Best Buy/Video Universe entry...but it would be strange if it wasn't, eh? I mean, how many best-of-Spike DVDs is Fox gonna put together all around the same time? |

Serenity News |
Serenity Screenings Sell Out Last Wednesday, Universal offered fans of Joss Whedon's Serenity the unique opportunity to screen an unfinished version of the movie in ten cities. This was originally intended to pull both fans and non-fans into the fold, but the screenings sold out so quickly (less than a day for all cities to sell-out, but reportably just a few minutes in a couple of locations), it is clear that only the hard-core fanbase will make it in. This seemed to be completely unexpected by Universal, as ads were appearing in newspapers after the sell out, and incentives for the fans to promote the screenings were removed. |

Vincent Kartheiser News |
Vincent Kartheiser on the Slag Heap of Life Actor Vincent Kartheiser is one sly trickster. In his Playbill bio, it says he was named after Vincent van Gogh and grew up surrounded by his paintings. "Not true," he quips. "I like to throw noodles on the wall and see where they'll stick. I like to be ambiguous. Most people never know who I am." |

Serenity News |
15 Things We Learnt This Week There are two Joss-like mentions: 1 : That "Serenity" might just make mashed spuds out of "Star Wars". OK, so it's not likely to make as much money (it'd be nice, but the Empire has more money for marketing) but it's shaping up to be the better film, and seemingly, the one that people are more interested in seeing. George might wanna have a chat to Joss about getting involved in this "Star Wars" TV series. AND 7 : That some people are convinced that because of all the positive mentions of "Buffy", "Angel", "Firefly" and anything Joss Whedon gets on here, that Whedon owns Moviehole. Not true, I tell ya - not true. I'd never let my Uncle control me.
Reader Review: Serenity (spoilers!) If there's one film I'm truly hangin' for this year it's Joss's space-saga. It's starting to look like this is the sci-fi film to see in 2005 - and not the final days of wee Anakin. But I guess we'll find out in due course. Our first review of "Serenity", courtesy one of the lucky chaps in the harbour city...Now, whose going to sneak me into a screening?
Serenity Soon! Another review of the Serenity trailer: The Firefly movie Serenity, scheduled for release Sept. 30, finally has a trailer. I wonder if FOX TV will start to air it and then cancel it halfway through?
A Non Firefly/SciFi Fan Loves Serenity! Just returned home from a test screening of "Serenity" in Thousand Oaks, California. I was invited to attend by a friend, who simply told me that he had passes to get to a sneak preview of a science-fiction, action/adventure movie coming out later this year. There was no other information given, so I assumed the film would be something like War of the Worlds or possibly The Island, although the possibility of Serenity popped in my head after I had viewed the trailer yesterday.
Serene on the Screen Forgettable flicks are foisted on unsuspecting moviegoers every week. So when a film like Serenity comes along -- one that fans actually want to see -- we're obliged to take notice. The cinematic offshoot of the defunct Firefly TV show doesn't boast an A-list cast, but with searches up 95%, it doesn't need one. Diehard fans who've clamored for creator Joss Whedon to take his now-cancelled sci-fi series to the big screen sent searches on "Serenity trailer" from near nothing into the thousands. Watch it slowly folks, 'cause it's gonna have to hold you until the film hits theaters in late September. |

Serenity News |
Whedon's Serenity Takes Another New Form Joss Whedon's protean space saga "Serenity" is ready to take yet another form. Scheduled for release on Sept. 30, "Serenity" is a feature film adaptation of Whedon's short-lived FOX drama "Firefly." As the movie preps for it theatrical run, though, it's also being turned into a roleplaying game from Margaret Weis Productions ("Dragonlance"). |
