Serenity Comic Book News |
Finding Serenity in Comics When "Firefly," the sci-fi western television series created by Joss Whedon, was cancelled, fans of the show despaired. They thought they would never see the crew of the firefly class ship The Serenity, again. They hoped they were wrong. Their hopes paid off. Last year a DVD set of the entire series was released and in September movie goers will once again visit the futuristic world of "Firefly" when the feature film "Serenity," written and directed by Whedon, reprises the entire cast of "Firefly" and blasts its way into theaters. |

Conference Sinks Teeth into Buffy's Role in Teaching The conference will examine how people are influenced by popular culture and how the programme draws parallels with everyday life. Academics at Huddersfield University's Department of Behavioural Sciences say the show, which first aired on TV in the late 1990s, can be used as a vital teaching aid, demonstrating issues such as a young, strong lead female character and even tackling a lesbian love affair. |

Angel Merchandise News |
Angel Soundtrack Review Like Christophe Beck’s music for Buffy The Vampire Slayer (and most of Angel’s first season), Robert Kral’s music for television’s Buffy spinoff, Angel – about the vampire with a soul seeking redemption as a demon-fighter in Los Angeles, is rich in orchestral flavorings. Released in England on EMI and in the USA by Rounder, this is a very nice collection of Kral’s underscore for the series, culled from each of the show’s five seasons. Kral’s musical approach perfectly mirrored the show’s mix of personalities, conflict, tragedy, triumph – and lots of cool fight scenes. |

Serenity News |
After Star Wars we Have Serenity! The buzz is on Star Wars, make no mistake – the latest movie is even getting good reviews. Yes, I said good reviews. I'm excited – glad to hear others write positively about the new Star Wars movie – it's as I heard on the radio, it really does cut over partisan/religious lines – nice to see that something can still remain free of politics. In any case, this is no doubt part of the reason why the movie, “Serenity”, has an opening date in September, after the Star Wars crazyness dies down a bit. |

Cast News |
Zap2It Take a Look at the Whedonverse-Cast's Pilots One of the most entertaining subplots of this pilot season was monitoring the attempt by former "Beverly Hills, 90210" stars and featured players from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" (commonly known as the Whedon-verse) to make it back on the small screen. Now that the dust has settled, it's clear that the Whedon-verse won big. While "90210" vets like Brian Austin Green (ABC's "Freddie"), Lindsey Price (The WB's "Pepper Dennis") and Shannen Doherty (UPN's "Love, Inc.") found network homes, some of seminal FOX soap's biggest stars -- Jason Priestley (CBS' "Love Monkey"), Luke Perry (FOX's "Ticket to Ride") and Tiffani Thiessen (CBS' "Stroller Wars") -- are looking for work again. Meanwhile, networks landed placements for such "Buffy" vets as Nicholas Brendon (FOX's "Kitchen Confidential"), Alyson Hannigan (CBS' "How I Met Your Mother") and Seth Green (NBC's "Four Kings") and for "Angel" favorites David Boreanaz (FOX's "Bones"), Amy Acker (CBS' "The Unit") and Christian Kane (CBS' "Close to Home"). |

Alyson Hannigan News |
Alyson Hannigan's New Pilot: Dispatches Judging from clip packages, CBS has one of the year's best new comedies in the romantic How I Met Your Mother, told in flashbacks from the future and featuring Neil Patrick ("Doogie") Harris and Buffy's Alyson Hannigan as standouts in a colorful ensemble. It also has the best-looking of the season's many alien-invasion thrillers, Threshold, which stars Karen Sisco's fabulous Carla Gugino. And while the faithful are mourning Joan of Arcadia, it's possible that its "Touched By a Psychic" Friday replacement, Medium clone Ghost Whisperer (starring Jennifer Love Hewitt as a seer who gives aid to restless souls and those they left behind), could be a Providence-level breakthrough. |

Daniel Dae Kim News |
Watch with Kristin: Interview with Daniel Dae Kim (Lost Spoilers) I've mentioned before that Daniel couldn't be more of a sweetheart. What you also need to know is that he is one of us, the kind of guy who loves a good Hollywood story: like what's really going on with those Desperate Housewives and the truth behind the saga of John Stamos' "crush." And his wife, bless her tube-loving heart, even frequents WWK Central! While waiting for the camera crew to set up, it took me approximately 2.5 seconds to become instant BFFs with DDK. |
