Putting the Bite On Think of Lestat and his cohorts in Anne Rice's novels, and the broody dudes Angel and Spike and the femmes très fatales Darla and Drusilla on ``Buffy the Vampire Slayer.'' Buffy'' put a feminist spin on the vampire story, which in Stoker's hands had been about imperiled virgins and their doughty male defenders. And now Elizabeth Kostova gives us another intrepid heroine, less hip than Buffy but no less determined to stake her claim as an eradicator of evil. |

Angel Comic Book News |
News on Angel Miniseries Two bits of Angel-related news. First, pick up the new TV Guide if you can--there's a piece on Joss Whedon-inspired comics that shows the cover to my Angel: The Curse #1 as well as Peter David's Spike one-shot. If you squint you can read my name on the cover of Angel: The Curse. Also, I've learned that Joss and Fox have approved my second Angel miniseries, which means that after I get home from the trip I have to get busy working on that one. |

Serenity Comic Book News |
2005 Comic Con Variant NSU Issue We currently are in production of this year's popular variant issue for Comic Con International. The cover for the issue will feature the cast of Joss Whedon's new movie, Serenity, and Don Norton's feature story will shed light on the new movie and card series from Inkworks. Similar to the three previous Comic Con variant issues, Inkworks will be handling the bulk of the distribution. Copies will be on sale at the Inkworks exhibit at Comic Con as well as through some of their retailers. We'll be holding a few copies back for those of you who are not able to make the show. We'd prefer that you buy the issue from Inkworks or a retailer at the show but realize that this is not in the cards for many of you. So that end, we'll be pre-selling our small quantity beginning late next week through the NSU Store. Copies will not ship until Comic Con has ended in mid-July. |

Morena Baccarin News |
Interview with Morena - Talks Firefly & Serenity Morena Baccarin on How Her Character Changes from “Firefly” to “Serenity:” “She’s still Inara; she’s still the character that Joss [Whedon] wrote. But the entire crew is like in a completely different situation. The stories are totally new and there’s definitely been a shift in who Inara is. She’s been going through a lot. It doesn’t really go back in time. It just sort of picks up where the series left off.” |

Firefly News |
Firefly Spreading Wings For a busted TV series that the Fox Network canceled back in December 2002 after only 11 episodes, JossWhedon's "Firefly" is building up quite a profile in ancillary markets.
The Return of Firefly - At least in Reruns You'll now get a chance to see the best science fiction series you never saw. The Sci Fi Channel has picked up the rights to Joss Whedon's series Firefly, the disguised "space western" that briefly hit the airwaves on Fox in 2002 and was quickly extinguished, according to Zap2it.com. (Now a convert, even I didn't like the show when Fox began broadcasting the elaborately-plotted, character-driven episodes confusingly out of order.)
Firefly Light up SciFi Summer Sci Fi Channel has acquired "Firefly," the short-lived Fox series from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon.
Firefly Relights on Sci Fi Just in time to stir up some advance hype for the movie based on it, the cult series "Firefly" is returning to television. The Sci Fi Channel has picked up the rights to Joss Whedon's "space Western" -- including three episodes never aired on TV -- and will begin airing it Friday, July 22. It will air at 7 p.m. ET, leading into the cable network's lineup of original series -- the two "Stargate" shows and "Battlestar Galactica," which open their new seasons the previous week. |

Morena Baccarin News |
Baccarin Interested in Wonder Woman Sizzling hot Morena Baccarin, from TV's "Firefly" and the impending big screen venture "Serenity", is reportedly one of the contenders to strap on the Wonder-Bra, if not the fan-fave. And, of course, she's guaranteed of a look in : "Firefly" director Joss Whedon is steering the "Wonder Woman" ship.
Morena Baccarin Eyes Wonder Woman So who will be cast in Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman? There has been a few names thrown around lately but who has really been approached? Some how a rumor began during the Batman junket that Katie Holmes was in the running for Wonder Woman, lets clear something up, she has NEVER been approached to play Wonder Woman. This is exactly what she was asked by me at the Batman junket roundtable that we shared with a group of web and print journalists. |

Tim Minear/Adam Baldwin News |
The Inside Story By my rough count, there are 13 procedural crime shows on network television right now; they represent the only significant dramatic challenge to the plague of reality television that has descended on our landscape. Consider that the four networks have 77 hours of primetime space to fill every week (ABC, NBC, and CBS each have 21 hours, Fox has only 14 hours). A few of these hours are taken up by news magazines, such as Dateline, Primetime Live, and 48 Hours. Most of the hole is filled with entertainment programming. These days, "entertainment" has become synonymous with "reality," which is synonymous with "bottom-feeding, fame-obsessed trash." |

Is Into the West Lame? Asks Herc It’s a Western miniseries starring the stars of the some of the best cancelled shows of the last few years: Skeet Ulrich (“Miracles”), Alan Tudyk (“Firefly”) and Josh Brolin (“Mister Sterling”). But it was written by William Mastrosimone, whose last bigscreen effort was the appalling 1994 Joe Pesci-Brendan Fraser dramedy “With Honors.” |
