Serenity News |
The Browncoats Rise Again I'm sitting in a movie theater in Portland and along with 200 other fans, I'm staring at a 20-foot-tall projection of the bleary, peanut-shaped head of Joss Whedon--creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer; he's snarkily introducing Serenity--the partially-completed film we're about to watch. We're paying to see this unfinished movie four months before its release date. It's the second of three rounds of sold-out sneak-preview screenings, scheduled for May 5 and 26 and June 23 in major cities. |

Joss Whedon News |
Exclusive Interview with Joss Whedon SideShowCollectibles have an exclusive interview with the man himself, Joss Whedon. Talks about the merchandising potentials of all things Whedon.
Holding Out for a Heroine Joss Whedon, the onetime boy wonder who brought TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer to vibrant life for seven seasons, is out to save comic-book legend Wonder Woman from a fate worse than those tacky star-spangled hot pants from the '70s TV series.
Joss Whedon on Wonder Woman In a USA Today article on upcoming heroines in movies, Joss Whedon talks about taking on Wonder Woman. Here's a clip: "I said yes, because in the process of trying to say no, I thought about her character and fell in love with her," says Whedon, who will direct and is currently writing the adventure based on the lone female equal to Batman and Superman in the DC Comics universe. "She is a warrior in a world of complicity and compromise who will never lay down her sword." |

Angel News |
Best Dads in Sci-Fi & Fantasy - Angel in at No. 5 Angel was a good, good dad, especially for a vampire and tortured hero and all. But then the boy got kidnapped to another dimension and raised up to be a moody Goth kid. And then he did it with Angel's woman! And STILL Angel didn't bite the kid! That's such a sweet daddy. But no parenting books covered all that, and eventually Angel was at the end of his rope. So he did what every parent does at one time or another: He rearranged the universe to put his amnesia-ridden child in with another family, and let them raise him all happy. |

Firefly News |
ePinions.com Firefly DVD Review I lost track of Buffy: the Vampire Slayer after the second season but I always respected its creator, Joss Whedon's, talent. His first comic book foray, Frey, was quite a disappointment, but his work re-launching the Astonishing X-men was exceptional. Many of my trusted friends are huge devotees of this show, but I never had the time, not being quite the same devotee to scifi or the genre as they. However, I finally saw it, and Firefly is truly astonishing, one of the best I have seen, and hopefully its short run can somehow be resurrected with the upcoming movie. |

Comic Book News |
Spike & Angel Rise from the Grave Cancelation, like death, doesn't seem to stop vampires. Characters from three defunct Joss Whedon series — Buffy, Angel and Firefly — are being resurrected this summer in comic-book form. First up, on June 29 is Angel: The Curse, IDW Publishing's five-part story set after the events of last year's apocalyptic series finale. The story finds Angel in Romania searching for the Gypsy tribe that cursed him with a soul a century ago. |

Firefly News |
Bushwhacked: Outer space, deviant sexualities, and Firefly's fanciest lad One place I can't fault Joss for his portrayal of queer people is Firefly. Maybe because it's set so far ahead in time, maybe because its characters are already so roguish and marginalized, or maybe just because the future has other things to worry about than who tips your fancy — I couldn't say, really. But one way or another, Firefly handles its queers by making them exactly what they should be: Not A Big Deal. |

David Boreanaz News |
The Crow: Wicked Prayer Review I am a huge fan of The Crow! Loved the graphic novel, adored the first film and even though the sequels were flawed, I still found lots to groove on within them. It’s with immense anticipation that I’ve been waiting for The Crow Wicked Prayer (hitting DVD shelves on July 19, 2005) to fly my way and today, it finally got here. Vaguely inspired by Norman Partridge’s graphic novel of the same name, The Crow Wicked Prayer was an ambitious opus, one that attempted to go further than its low budget (the coin must have all gone to the name cast) and that succeeded in its goals off and on. In some ways this third sequel stood on its own more so than the previous ones where it bravely expanded upon The Crow mold we all know so well. |

Serenity News |
Serenity Seekers: What Makes Sci-Fi Fans go Cosmic? There's a fine, fine line. But when one goes from fan to fanatic, it's easily apparent that the line's been crossed -- at least to others. It's when you not only own a set of Spock ears, but wear them, proudly, in public. It's when you have three walls in your home dedicated to "Star Wars;" several shelves filled with DVDs, books and Luke Skywalker figurines, plus a life-sized plastic Yoda in the corner. |
