Serenity News |
Telegraph Reports on Serenity For sheer, joyful entertainment, though, there's no question as to this festival's hottest ticket: the world première of Joss Whedon's Serenity. A science fiction western based on Whedon's cult television series Firefly, it picks up where the series left off, pitting Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) and his rogue crew of small-time rebels against the military might of a superpower called The Alliance. Between them lies the mystery of River Tam (Summer Glau), a psychic assassin who holds the key to the future of the universe. |

David Boreanaz News |
Cinescape Reviews Bones This season marks the return of quite a few Buffyverse players to regular network gigs. Nicholas "Xander" Brendon will be sautéing and basting things in FOX's KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL, one of the few sitcoms that actually has some positive buzz attached to it; Alyson "Willow" Hannigan headlines a sitcom with less positive word of mouth going for it, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER; Charisma "Cordelia" Carpenter will put aside Playboy pictorials to take on a recurring role in this season's VERONICA MARS; James Marsters is losing the bleach job and the accent and becoming Braniac on SMALLVILLE (though both hair and voice may return if the newly surging rumors of a new Spike project prove to be true); and Amy "Fred" Acker will turn up midseason in the David Mamet/Shawn Ryan collaboration, THE UNIT. |

Serenity News |
I Found Serenity I could never figure out why I am not on Joss Whedon's Christmas card list. But I guess it was because I never wanted to admit to myself that it's because I'm a schmuck. For some reason, I never seem to give Joss a chance. And why is that? I'm sure he could care less whether I give him a chance or not, but I have to live with myself and it's hard to do that when I'm always late joining the party.
Deadlier than Male The first strike against machismo comes with "Serenity" (Sept. 30), from writer-director Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer"). The sci-fi/Western hybrid about a raggedy starship team features Gina Torres as a grizzled war vet turned space pilot and Jewel Staite as a sharp interstellar mechanic. |

General News |
Ripper: Cracker with Ghosts Last week, I wrote an article discussing my opinions on what I felt would be the best possble spin-off for the Buffyverse, this being 'Ripper', a television series focusing on Buffy's Watcher, Rupert Giles. I wrote about why I think he made the ideal canditate and was the most logical step for the next series. The article can be found here. This week, I'm mainly going to overview the project so far, give some of my ideas on what should happen, and am looking forward to feedback on what people think of my ideas, what they would change about them, and of course their own personal views on what they would like to see in a 'Ripper' series. |

Nathan Fillion News |
Far From Serenity Asked about his early TV experience, Fillion told us that he learned acting from performing on soaps "and it works for any scene." He gave us examples, asking "Did I leave the stove on?" and giving us a somber, deep, meaningful look. Then, "I did leave the storm on," for which he used the same look. And then, concluding the trilogy, "No, I turned the stove off," repeating the look yet again. "And it works for all of them," he told us. |

Angel News |
When Fandom Closes Up Shop And so it has been for the last year or two for we fans of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and its wonderful spinoff, "Angel," since those shows took their bows. Some of the most colorful and ubiquitous links to scifi series are the tie-in magazines that line the racks of your local Barnes&Noble or Borders superstores. I've never been a huge consumer of those tie-in magazines, but in the months since the "Angel" finale, "Not Fade Away," well, actually did fade away, I've periodically gotten a little cheer from catching Titan Magazines' "Angel" tie-in. |

James Marsters News |
James on Watch With Kristin Picking James' Brain: In case you've been living under a rock and James' fans don't yet have your mailing address, you should know that James Marsters has been cast as Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) new nemesis on Smallville in the coming season. His name? Brainiac, which is quite fitting for the man I still contend to be one of the smartest in Hollywood, a man who throws around words like verisimilitude. That said, it seems best to not let my nonsensical blathering get in the way of his words and just give it to you straight up Q&A style. |

Firefly/Serenity News |
From Indiana to Firefly Ron Glass has been a TV icon -- twice. Glass, a 60-year-old Evansville native, played Detective Ron Harris on "Barney Miller" and Shepherd Book on "Firefly," in addition to more than 60 acting credits and one for directing. He first got hooked on acting while attending the University of Evansville, and is back in Indiana this weekend for the Gen Con Indy Gaming Convention at the Indiana Convention Center.
Serenity Cast to Attend World Premiere at Edinburgh The powers that be at The Edinburgh International Film Festival have confirmed to The Hollywood News that some of the cast of SERENITY will join director Joss Whedon at the premiere on Monday night (22nd August). |

Angel Merchandise News |
Tales from the Toybox: Hell's Angel With about 50 things going on at once (which is a very good bad thing, in the long run), this is going to be another one of those "hit-and-run" weeks where I show off the coolosity more than I actually gab about it, beyond the bare essentials. So what's Gabby McPhee got this week? How about the Sword of Angelus? It was featured prominently in the 2-part second season finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as after our heroine's loss of Vamp virginity causes her brooding Angel to go all soulless & evil, he hatches a plan to open up an Earth-obliviating doorway to a Hell dimension courtesy of some blood, a statue to the demon Acathia, and this here blade. |

Mysterious Serenity Related Clip A rather mysterious clip about Serenity has just surfaced on the net. It could be regarded as spoilerish, though nothing of the movie is shown. This could be the start of the big media campaign that Joss was telling us all about. |

Serenity News |
Serenity Now? There are several thousand reasons why the film Serenity is coming to a theater near you on Sept. 30, and on this balmy San Diego evening in July, a couple hundred of them have just broken out into song. Some sport T-shirts that read JOSS WHEDON IS MY MASTER NOW. (Pop idolatry like this can happen when you make cult magnets like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel for a living.) But most are Browncoats, a division within the Whedon Nation devoted to Firefly, the producer's short-lived 2002 TV series about a rinky-dink spaceship and its thick-as-thieves crew. |

Michelle Trachtenberg News |
A Star is Dawn Pop princess, perceptive teen, ice-skating goddess… actress Michelle Trachtenberg has transformed into all of these roles and more in the two years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended. Her three seasons on the show playing the Slayer’s kid sister, Dawn Summers, gave Michelle the opportunity to grow with the role and evolve her character from an awkward teen to a self-possessed young woman, that bravely battled evil to help save the world. |

Serenity News |
Hang on in There Can Joss Whedon save the Hollywood action flick? Right now, as he hobbles about with a damaged knee, it may seem a bit of a tall order, even for the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But, if not Whedon, then who? The old masters of noise and spectacle are in trouble. A billion dollars’ worth of digitally enhanced action films — from Ridley Scott’s crusaders to Michael Bay’s clones — have landed in America with a bored splat. |

Serenity: A Look Inside Download a sneak peak into Serenity.
Serenity-TheMovie.com A new official Serenity site, for the international market.
Fall Movie Preview: Serenity The saga of ''a nobody crew aboard a crappy little spaceship'' is how Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon summarizes his feature-film directing debut — though the full story behind Serenity is about a thousand words more complicated.
A Peek Inside the Casting Office Gina Torres has officially dotted her I's and crossed her T's to reprise her role as Zoe in a "Serenity" sequel - if the studio calls for it. "Not everyone will be coming back, some of their stars are rising far too high, but Whedon's locking most of the cast down for sequel one and two", says a studio insider. |

Firefly News |
Countdown to Serenity: Firefly Episode 1 We open on perhaps the most awkward scene in the entire series. This forced bit of backstory, showing Mal Reynolds and Zoe during the war for independence against the Alliance is the most ham-handed bit of the series to come. It’s obvious to just about anyone that this was written and inserted by Joss Whedon as a move to appease the network, a move that worked out well. |

Joss Whedon News |
Joss Whedon in Awe of Veronica Mars I've only seen about 40 seconds of Veronica Mars (I'm going to remedy that, I swear), but I just can't believe it's this good. Buffy, Angel, and Firefly creator Joss Whedon says it's...well, here are some quotes about the show from the man himself. |
