Angel Comic Book News |
IDW Announces Angel: Old Friends When Joss Whedon's classic character, Angel, returned to comics in the form of IDW Publishing's Angel: the Curse miniseries, there was an audience hungry for new adventures based on the fan-favorite character. The miniseries delivered, going back to press twice for the first issue, and was well-received throughout its five-issue arc. What the series didn't do was satisfy the hunger for new stories that included Angel's supporting cast. Fans wanted more, not surprisingly given Buffy the Vampire Slayer's immense fanbase. And now they'll have it. |

Anthony S. Head News |
Checking In: '90's Stars: Anthony Head Anthony Stewart Head was thrilled about one thing after Buffy the Vampire Slayer bit the dust in 2003 — his 6,000-mile commute was finally over. The British actor thwarted demons as rumpled librarian Rupert Giles for seven seasons while pond-hopping between his family's home outside London and Slayer's Los Angeles set. ''On one trip home my youngest daughter, Daisy, looked at me and said, 'Wow, you've been away almost half my life,''' says Head. |

Joss Whedon News |
Joss Whedon on Serenity Cancelled TV shows don't normally get a second chance. Space-western saga 'Firefly' is an exception to this rule. Originally aired on US television in 2002, this engaging sci-fi drama was axed after only 15 episodes, despite having earned critical acclaim and built up a strong following. Normally this would have been the end of the story. Instead, the massive success of the show's DVD box set has produced a totally unprecedented result, and Firefly has been reborn onto the big screen as the highly anticipated sci-fi action thriller Serenity. |

Nicholas Brendon News |
Talking Confidential While working on the TV movie I Want to Marry Ryan Banks Bradley Cooper was constantly regaled with stories about a certain actor. His co-star, Emma Caulfield, couldn't stop talking about Nicholas Brendon, who played her love interest on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "She kept saying, 'Oh, my God, there was this guy that I worked with who you kind of remind me of, but he's really funny and he's such a great actor. You guys would get along,'" says Cooper. "Every day we'd do a scene, and she'd go, 'Oh, my God, he would be so great in that scene.' I'm, like, 'The scene I just did?' She's, like, 'Yeah, oh, my God, the choices he would have made.' This guy, Nicholas Brendon, I wanted to f***ing kill him." |

Serenity World Premiere Photos Pictures of the cast of Serenity at the world premiere in Edinburgh are now available to view.
CHUD Reviews Serenity It was pretty neat, a space western with a sense of humor and the brain of Joss Whedon fueling it, something people weaned on Angel and Buffy are quite familiar with. It wasn’t great. In fact, it was his third best television show out of what I believe is a possible three but it still had plenty of merit and a nice little ensemble of actors. I got more hate mail for a mixed review of the show than when I did for assassinating everyone people have loved since 1982. That, my friends, is the power of Whedon. |

Charisma Carpenter News |
Charisma Carpenter Just Wants to have Fun in a Mean Spirited Role When it's time to kick a television series up a notch, smart producers know what to do: Add bitch, stir well. As for who is best for the job, that depends. Those requiring a well-seasoned snake get Heather Locklear on the line. Anyone looking for a princess hiding a knife behind her back, however, can't do better than Charisma Carpenter. The fan favorite returns to television this fall on UPN's "Veronica Mars" (premiering 9 p.m. Sept. 28 on KSTW/11) playing vampy trophy wife Kendall Casablancas, Neptune's latest manifestation of pure evil. |

Serenity News |
Serenity Brings Chaos On Monday night, Cineworld, Edinburgh's biggest cinema multiplex, went mental. A queue, which began forming five hours before screening time, snaked from the doors of the cinema all the way through the mall to the tacky threshold of the all-you-can-eat Mexican restaurant. Outside at the red carpet, probably the biggest number of autograph hunters so far seen this year used all means short of outright physical violence to win a position. The reason? Serenity was in town.
Joss Whedon Brings Serenity There is only one film that anyone is talking about today, and I'm afraid you won't be getting a break from it here. Hushed silence please for... Serenity. Not only was Joss (God) Whedon here in Edinburgh, but the whole cast came along as well, all nine of them. Since I was too slow and useless to get tickets for either the premiere or the Reel Life event, being able to go to the press conference was the only thing keeping me from suicide. And no, that's not being melodramatic - ask me a question about Buffy.

Spike Movie News |
Minear to Write & Direct Spike Film Looks like the wheels are finally in motion. Blondie Boy's about to take another bite out of the box. Tim Minear ["The Inside"] has been tapped to write and direct the long-awaited "Spike" telemovie for the brothers Warner. The WB agreed to the "Angel" spin-off earlier this year, but creator Joss Whedon's been reportedly too busy to think thrice about it. Solution? rope in an ol' bud to take the ropes. Minear, via Whedonesque, let the cat out of the bag, saying "I had lunch with Joss and he asked me if I wanted to write and direct some blonde vampire movie thing. Should I do it? (I of course said yes right off, still) Anything under 13 hours scares me. And anything over 13 hours... um. I got nothin'." |
