Spike: Love is Hell DVD Review Love hurts, love bites, love beats the crap out of you, and then it forces you to sacrifice yourself to save the world. That last one might be just for Spike, the lovelorn badass from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Created by Joss Whedon and brought vibrantly to life by James Marsters, Spike the vampire loved and lost as he prowled the neighborhoods of Sunnydale. First, his love of centuries in Drusilla, then the love that proved his undoing (or his making depending on how you look at it), the slayer herself. Now, we can trace the tragedy of Spike's love with four episodes, repackaged by Fox under the banner Love is Hell. Sure is. |

James Marsters News |
Celeb Spotlight: James Marsters He likes a touch of evil. Marsters, who played the sexy-scary vampire Spike for six seasons on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has no problem playing another bad guy. "I love doing villains – they're good roles," he says. "I was playing the new Spider-Man video game with my son (Sullivan, 9, with ex-wife Liane Davidson), and he just wants to be Venom. Villains are fun as long as you don't have to hurt anybody in real life." |

Joss Whedon News |
Wonder Whedon He brought us two of the finest TV series ever to grace the screen - Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. His attempt to bring us a third, Firefly, was horribly curtailed when evil TV execs (maybe they were vampires?) cancelled it midway through season one. But the hero of Hollywood, the man they call Whedon, was not about to give up that easy, and brought Firefly back as the feature film Serenity. Here, we talk to The Man himself, about his projects past, present and future. |

Buffy Movies Straigh to DVD? Marti Noxon, executive producer of UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer in its last seasons, told SCI FI Wire that the popular series' characters may live on in direct-to-DVD movies. "There are serious discussions going on about bringing some of the characters back and making a few movies that will go straight to DVD, but they will certainly be the quality they have always been," Noxon said in an interview. Continued fan interest in a big-budget Buffy film has led creator Joss Whedon to consider a series of movies that would focus on some of the secondary characters, she added. |

Marti Noxon News |
Noxon Helps Raimi's Curse Writer Marti Noxon told SCI FI Wire that she's now working on rewriting a script idea sparked by director Sam Raimi and his brother Ivan, who co-wrote Spider-Man 3. Tentatively titled The Curse, the story includes doctors, monsters, mental patients and a witch, Noxon said in an interview. The film mixes Evil Dead and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, added Noxon, who served as executive producer of Buffy during its final run on UPN. (Noxon is currently a consulting producer on the Fox drama series Prison Break.) |

Serenity News |
Serenity a Soothing Sci-Fi Success Nothing soothes the soul like a solid sci-fi flick. Serenity, Joss Whedon's big screen foray and extension of his late TV show, "Firefly," is as soothing as can be. With special effects that hover slightly above shoddy, and a humbly remote vision of the future, Whedon's pet project shirks the facetious expectations associated with the genre. By accomplishing this, Serenity achieves a humility that makes the film feel like a surprise rather than a bargain. (Spoilers) |

Nathan Fillion News |
Fillion a Rising Star Information, please, on Nathan Fillion, the handsome young actor who stars in the new sci-fi thriller Serenity. Fillion was born in Edmonton, Alberta, 34 years ago. The son of English teachers, he planned to become a teacher himself, but after appearing in high school plays changed his mind and talked his way into the role of a priest on ABC's One Life to Live. This was followed by a small role in his movie debut, Saving Private Ryan, and then the lead as Capt. Mal Reynolds in the Fox sci-fi series Firefly. |

David Boreanaz News |
David Boreanaz Feels Bad to the Bones David Boreanaz can do without the gory details. Unlike some actors who regale journalists with tales of their off-screen exploits while researching their crime-solving characters -- storming doors alongside SWAT teams, chilling in morgues, etc. -- Boreanaz says he's dodged digging around dead bodies, despite starring in a show that is tellingly titled Bones. "I have no interest in doing that," the 36-year-old actor says during a phone interview from Los Angeles. "It's not part of my character." |

Marti Noxon News |
Point Pleasant DVD Inclue Series' Wild Finish I told producer Marti Noxon that I had finally gotten to see the thirteenth episode of Point Pleasant. She laughed and said, ``Oh, yeah, the crazy one.'' No kidding. On view in a new DVD set, it has violence, horror, some laughs, at least one inside joke (Noxon's mother is an extra in a key scene) and a flamboyant unleashing of evil on the world that will both make you glad the story is over and wish for more. |

Joss Whedon News |
Wonder Woman News While Joel Silver was out promoting Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, I got a chance to grill him about Wonder Woman. We heard from Joss Whedon last month, now find out what the producer has to say... With Serenity not finding as big an audience as hoped, do you worry about Joss’s reach? Look, I don't know. He was so passionate. It was always dubious to take a failed TV series and try to make a success out of that. He was just so passionate about it, he wanted to do it and Universal stood by him. I think it did as best as could be hoped. It was an interesting movie, it didn’t cost a lot, he just worked his ass off to make it great and I’m not deterred by it. I’ll help him make a great movie out of Wonder Woman.
Blond, James Bond Joss discussed as potential director for the movie - Or what about Joss Whedon? Not many people saw Serenity in the theater but he wrote an intelligent, interesting villain (the Operative) and had a no-name actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) make him memorable. He could do the same thing for a Bond villain except this time people are guaranteed to go. |
