Amy Acker News |
Amy in Alias Spin-Off? Among the formats Pinkner and Abrams have discussed is a spin-off series revolving around villains Sark (David Anders), Peyton (Amy Acker) and Sloane (Ron Rifkin). "It's the triumvirate of evil!" Pinkner says. (No official discussions with ABC have taken place yet.) Producers have also toyed with the idea of a big-screen adaptation starring Garner. |

Adam Baldwin News |
The Man they Call Jayne: An Interview with Adam Baldwin During my recent interview with members of the cast of Serenity (released on DVD December 20th), I was listening to Nathan Fillion’s dream cast for a Mel Brook’s spoof, when he turned and asked fellow co-star, Adam Baldwin, “Who would play Jayne in a Mel Brooks’ version of a spoof of Firefly?” “Danny Glover,” Adam responds to Nathan’s question with barely a moment’s hesitation. I can’t help but wonder if this is something he’s considered before. “It’s really funny if you think about it.” |

Joss Whedon News |
Moriarty Interviews Joss Whedon Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab... It’s going to be a slightly strange day here at the DVD Shelf. Sure, we’re going to run the list of new releases worth paying attention to, same as we do every week. But we’re also going to run an interview with the writer/director of one of this week’s titles as a way of sort of shining a spotlight on it, and it may surprise some of you who remember my review of SERENITY from earlier this year. As I said there, I liked the movie, but the fans were starting to freak me out, and they got even worse after that piece ran. I had to change my phone service for a while because of some of the truly crazy calls we were we getting here at the Labs, and it soured me a bit on fandom in general, and Whedon fans especially. |

Nathan Fillion News |
O Captain! My Captain - An Interview with Nathan Fillion When I approach Nathan Fillion to initiate my interview, he pulls out the chair beside him, and pats the seat for me to sit down. This is just the kind of person that he is – friendly, personable, and more than likely able to talk to anyone about anything for any length of time. His effortless smile put me instantly at ease, and I immediately learn that, apparently, no one is safe from his predilection to tease, be they cast member or complete stranger. |

Serenity News |
Serenity - More Clever than Star Trek or Star Wars When TV wunderkind Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) tried his hand at the sci-fi genre in 2002 with Firefly, it seemed that few took notice. The show disappeared after three months, but the seed had been planted. Like Buffy and Angel, Firefly had its share of followers, and when the entire series was released on DVD and got above-average sales, Whedon brought his whole cast to the big screen with the big-budget, effects-filled film Serenity.
Five Star DVD Review for Serenity from Cinema Blend Joss Whedon is best known for his light, fluffy forays into the world of the supernatural with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and its follow up series “Angel”. Always a master of combining odd elements, Whedon stepped into a heavier sci-fi realm with the creation of “Firefly”, a short lived western-in-space which depicted life on the space frontier as lived by some of the less heroic elements. The show lived a sadly short life but has been partly resurrected in the form of Serenity, a movie that follows the characters beyond the television show, even if it doesn’t keep the total flavor that made the show interesting.
Serenity Now Filmgoers can bemoan Hollywood’s lack of originality all they want — the fact is, if they went to good movies more good movies would be made. Case in point: Joss Whedon’s canny, energetic Serenity, which grossed less during its entire theatrical run than Dukes of Hazzard did its first weekend.
TV Flops Transforms into a Film with a Future in the Heart of Nerds "Serenity" is the movie version of "Firefly," a 2002 television series so spectacularly unsuccessful that only a handful of episodes aired before the Fox network canceled it. If longevity is the criterion, Hollywood should have produced films based on "Fastlane," "Murder One" and "After MASH" years before this project arrived at a theater near you. Yet as challenging as it must have been to pilot Joss Whedon's space opera from the TV junk pile to the big screen, the finished product is a triumph. |

Joss Whedon News |
Serenity Now - A Conversation with Director Joss Whedon Following in the literary career path of both his father and grandfather, one might say that writing is in Joss Whedon’s blood. After honing his TV writing chops on the larger-than-life sitcom, ‘Rosanne,’ in the late ‘80s, Whedon went on to garner legions of fans by creating the ‘Buffy the Vampire’ franchise that launched a stake-wielding Sarah Michelle Gellar into the spotlight. He has also received an Oscar nomination for his work penning the animated blockbuster ‘Toy Story.’ Whedon’s interests soon turned to galaxies far, far away, as he helped write the screenplay for the futuristic space cowboy animated tale, ‘Titan A.E.,’ and created the renegade crew from ‘Firefly’ TV series, the same show that ultimately led to his feature film directorial debut, ‘Serenity’ (view trailer). |

Serenity News |
Serenity DVD Review Truthfully I had never heard of Serenity until the movie was in the works. Clearly it is my loss. After watching the DVD I regret not being able to have seen the TV Series. Actually, I even regret not going to see this in the theatre. It was a quite unexpected and enjoyable movie. The humor mixed in with the action is very reminiscent of Whedon's previous projects and something I always enjoyed to see. I'll give you the jist of the synopsis below but, I strongly recommend heading over to read David Server's great movie review and even check out the Serenity Junket report to truly gear up for this fantastic DVD release.
Serenity Best Movie of 2005 at IGN.com Why It Rocked: Serenity, Joss Whedon's big-screen version of his defunct series Firefly wasn't exactly a run-away hit at the box office. But we have a feeling that this underappreciated gem will become a sci-fi classic in time. The film is light on the kind of special effects that are typically plentiful in films of this genre, but it's big on heart, integrity and character development - something sorely lacking in too many mainstream films of any kind. To say that Serenity is an exciting, emotional rollercoaster of a film - one that has plenty of action - is not an overstatement in the least.
Hopes for Serenity Sequel Remain High If there was one sense you get from talking to members of the cast of Serenity, it’s one of hope. While the film may not have performed as well at the box office as the cast and their fans would have liked, that doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone has given up. This coming Tuesday, December 20th, Serenity will be released on DVD, and Universal pictures has stated that they will be keeping a close eye on the numbers. Should the DVD sell as anticipated, the prospect for a sequel to Serenity is a good one.

The Serenity Cycle Continues with DVD "There was a line that was cut out of the pilot of the show," recalls Joss Whedon with all due irony: "Once you're in Serenity, you never leave. You just learn to live there." Whedon and his crewmates — and their legions of dedicated, die-hard fans — have been living in Serenity since early 2002. Even when there was no "Serenity" to live in. |

Joss Whedon News |
Exclusive: Catching Up with Joss Whedon here are some creators who are so popular among genre fans, especially those that populate the internet, that they can do no wrong. Like Kevin Smith and Guillermo del Toro, Joss Whedon became one of those creators after creating the popular television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel. The popularity of those shows might be why there's always almost immediate buzz among Whedon's fans whenever a new project of his is announced. Over the summer, Whedon directed his first feature film, Serenity, which continued the FOX television show Firefly, but sadly, the fanbase for that show wasn't enough to keep the movie afloat in theatres. |

Joss Whedon News |
Joss Whedon Talks Serenity, Wonder Woman As the series creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Joss Whedon ushered in a new era of TV sci-fi and cemented his VIP status at Comic Con. However, it was one of his lesser-known creations that he chose as his directorial debut on the big screen. With Serenity, Whedon revisited his short-lived Fox series Firefly with the hope of introducing a larger audience to the fantasy world and to the characters that had already spawned a sizable cult following. Recently, TVGuide.com caught up with the ever-inventive auteur to discuss the space adventure, which lands in stores today on DVD.

Serenity DVD Extras in Detail Serenity is coming to DVD on December 20th and many people are asking what sort of extras we can expect on the DVD. Wonder no longer. I have the extras and the run times for you. Worry no more friends! Keep in mind I have been warned between now and December 20th the extras could possibly be altered.
Home Movies List: Christmas Underdogs - Serenity Don't let the title fool you: This is the most rollicking space opera in many moons, a vastly more enjoyable voyage than anything George Lucas has offered in decades. A sequel/extension of the cancelled Fox series "Firefly" by pop genius Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel"), Serenity is smart, witty, occasionally harrowing, and, by the end, surprisingly moving. Thanks to its lack of stars (and advertising budget), the movie didn't make much noise at the box office. But it's poised to make a killing when it's released on video next week. Those looking for a last-minute gift for the boys in their lives--or just a nice evening's respite from the hectic holidays--will be hard pressed to find better.
Serenity Entered for BAFTAS Serenity's among the list of movies entered for the BAFTAS.
Serenity #3 Best Movie The year’s best underrated movie, courtesy of writer-director Joss Whedon’s resurrected short-lived TV series Firefly: spaceships, quips, and soaring wit—all for a relatively modest price. Also Joss Whedon given best debut - Joss Whedon, Serenity: Made for $40 million, a fraction of the budget of a Star Wars movie, Whedon’s feature-film debut was a sci-fi lark that was scarier, emotionally richer, and a lot funnier than anything Lucasfilm could come up with. |

Serenity News |
IGN.com Serenity DVD Review Like outer space, Hollywood can be a completely unforgiving place. Just ask writer/director Joss Whedon, whose science-fiction television show, Firefly, was cancelled after just a season, and despite unanimously rave reviews. The series, which married space operas and westerns, chronicled the often misguided travels of a gruff captain and his unlikely crew of thieves. The FOX network aired some 11 (out of order) episodes of Firefly in 2002 before it dismissed the show altogether, but fans couldn't let it go so easily.
Serenity Movie Site Revamped The official site for Serenity has been revamped in preparation for the DVD release, in the USA. |

Bones Star Aims for Realism As non-stop gunfire pounds eardrums at the Oak Tree Gun Club, a firing range 40 minutes north of Los Angeles, a handsome father lifts his unflinching 31/2-year-old son up onto his shoulders. "This is a hobby," he tells the boy as he points to the shooters. "These gentleman are safe and responsible adults." |
