Experience the Serenity of Space and Independance Who in this day and age bothers with space shows and westerns? Joss Whedon, creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and its popular spin-off "Angel," combined the two genres and came up with the show "Firefly." Sadly, some station heads destroyed its chance for success through scheduling changes and other problems. Despite that, the show has an almost cult-like following. Die-hard followers of "Firefly," aka "Brown Coats," and the creators got their own back last summer with the premiere of the movie "Serenity." |

Angel News |
Angel Soundtrack #11 Best Album of 2005 While a commercial soundtrack CD of Christophe Beck’s outstanding scores for TV’s BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER remains unfortunately lacking, England’s EMI (released by Rounder in the US) has done its sister series, ANGEL, right in this excellent amalgamation of underscore music from each of the show’s five seasons (Beck scored most of the first season, then Kral came on board and composed the rest). The musical approach of both composers perfectly mirrored the show’s mix of personalities, conflict, tragedy, triumph – and lots of cool fight scenes. |

Serenity News |
Serenity - Best Scifi Movie Sorry, Star Wars fans. While that was hands down the best of the second trilogy, the stilted dialogue pales in comparison to the cracker-jack banter of this, Joss Whedon’s resurrection of his lamentably short-lived TV show. Remember those great exchanges between Han Solo and Leia? This movie’s full of that sort of wisecracking, ever-quotable dialogue (see “quotes” under the IMDB.com listing if you doubt it). True, it doesn’t pack the punch of Lucas’ final epic, but it’s a hell of lot more fun and less cringe-inducing. |

Serenity News |
DVD File Reviews Serenity I am not familiar with Firefly, the series upon which this feature film is based, but that may be a good thing. Having no preconceptions, I was able to watch this film unbiased, and I was pleasantly surprised. It exceeded my expectations. My only disadvantage was that certain terms and back-stories were unfamiliar; I was left with the distinct impression that I could have benefited from knowledge of the television episodes. Regardless, series creator and director Joss Whedon seems to have done his best to create a work that stands alone. |

Serenity News |
Serenity DVD Review "There's no place I'd rather be/since I found Serenity." One of the opening lines from "Firefly's" theme song sums up the love thousands of fans have devoted to Joss Whedon's big-screen masterpiece, "Serenity." It all began three years ago with the TV series "Firefly" and Whedon's idea about the state of the universe 500 years in the future — China and the United States had joined forces, and the residents of Earth expanded their residence in the form of the Alliance (aka friendlier empire, but donning similar gray outfits) to other galaxies.

The problem is, while everybody knows the story of the hotpant-sporting superheroine, no one seems to know owt about Whedon's other project. |

Nathan Fillion News |
More Images from Slither Have you noticed that we're a little high on James Gunn's Slither? It's as if he took all of the prestige he got from doing zombie and talking dog flicks and made a movie just for us. He didn't, but it never hurts to dream. Today we have a handful of new images, a few you might remember from the trailer and some you've never seen. No, there's nothing quite as grotesque as the Crawford Tillinghast-esque Rooker shot we ran a few months ago, but they're still great and they still have the spirally goodness one should expect from all things Slither. In advance, you are welcome! |
