In Memory: The Shows That Should Have Been
Several people also were still upset about the cancellation of "Firefly," a short-lived Fox series by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon. The 2002 sci-fi show about life in space 500 years in the future had a devoted following but lasted only one season. Fan Randy Allen of Great Bend said "Firefly" was one of those shows that could make you laugh and move you to tears in one episode. But it wasn't to be. "Unfortunately, people don't want to watch original, unique stories," he said. "They want another series about doctors, forensic law enforcement, and reconstructed families with cool adults and teenagers spouting sexual sarcasm."

Will Firefly Season 2 Fly?
A spokesman for Joss Whedon, creator of Firefly and its spinoff movie, Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that Whedon hasn't heard of Ace Underhill, an entrepreneur who said he is trying to acquire the rights to the SF TV franchise for purposes of mounting a second season to be distributed in alternative media. "Joss doesn't really know anything about that guy, and I don't really think he has a comment," Whedon's spokesman said in response to questions about Underhill's efforts.

The Fembot: An Open Love Letter to Joss Whedon
My dearest Joss, How much do I love you? Let me count the ways. Buffy, Spike, Angel, Cordelia, Willow, Jayne, Mal, Kaylee, Illyria, Giles… the list is unending. Is my admiration and respect for your talent slightly biased? Perhaps. Then again, I believe it’s safe to say that you are responsible for the creation of three of the best television series to ever grace the airwaves. For giving me those shows, those characters, those storylines, plus fandoms and friends that I couldn’t do without, I want to thank you.

Firefly, The Second Coming?
There has been a lot of talk the last couple of days about this. What is it? It’s a site championing for the second series of a show that no longer exists. Why’s it there? A company wants to resurrect said series and put it back on the tube. Anyone else keen for a “Firefly”, Season 2? Ace Underhill, from the independent production company trying to make it happen , dropped by the serenitymovie.org forums today to answer a few questions on what his plan actually is. “In the last 4 hours I've been asked about 759 times; "so what the heck are you trying to do?". Well, our mission is straightforward, but difficult: We intend to license the Firefly Intellectual Property from Fox, produce the show on our dime, and sell to the highest bidder”, he explains.

Buffy, It Ain't
I've been dying to obsess about TV again, but until recently my quest seemed hopeless. No shows created by Joss Whedon are on the air, and popular, new science fiction series Battlestar Galactica makes me feel crawly and abused rather than fannish. I'd been reduced to late nights with my vaporizer and replays of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century on the SciFi Channel. I'd hit rock bottom. Then I started hearing about this show called Veronica Mars, whose kick-ass teenage heroine sounded like Buffy, only without the whining. Initially I was dubious.

:: Joss Whedon News
The New CW Network
Get "Buffy," "Angel" and "Firefly" creator Joss Whedon on the phone and have him whip up one of his patented, obsessively loved cult dramas. Cowboys in space, vampire detectives, superhero gals -- whatever. But making Whedon the cornerstone of this night would be a smart move (and in this iTunes-oriented and DVD-crazed age, there’s no doubt The CW would make a mint from ancillary sales of any Whedon drama). It would make sense to pair up Whedon’s new show with the critically acclaimed “Veronica Mars” (which Whedon adores and has guested on). The downside: My head might explode from sheer joy.

The series was created by Wolf and the pilot was written by Walon Green (Law & Order) and Rick Eid (Law & Order: Trial by Jury, The Guardian). Watch with Krsitin: Amy Talks Spike Movie
Funny you should ask. 'Cause I did. "[Joss and I] had dinner last night," Amy told me, "and he was still talking about doing the Spike movie." When I asked if she'd want to be a part of it, she said, "If it's Joss, of course I'll do whatever. I'll, like, be the costume designer! I don't care!" But for the time being, James Marsters is tied up with Smallville, so we shall see, mes cheris.

:: David Boreanaz News
Tony Bray Interviews David Boreanaz
It's time for all television critics to admit that the talented actor who starred as a vampire with a soul (most of the time) in the fantastic universe created by Joss Whedon is not a creature of habit. In fact, Boreanaz has already scored another hit series and didn't even have to suck the blood out of anybody's neck to get the part. He stars in Fox's 'Bones' as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, a former Army sniper who likes to overwhelm criminals with his ability to track them down using witnesses and good old fashion detective work. Booth likes to act first and ask questions later, which is exactly the opposite of the way his partner in crime solving, Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), uncovers evidence. She is a forensic anthropologist who has the unique ability to find clues that are hidden in and on the bones of the dead. She also is a famous author. Together, Booth and Brennan are almost able to overlook each other's differences in time to solve their cases. They also are one hot couple, but fans of the series should not expect a lovefest to take place anytime soon.

:: Nathan Fillion News
AICN Reviews Nathan's Slither
Was able to get myself recruited into a screening of SLITHER last night in Burbank and am happy to report that R rated horror is back with a vengeance. This is the James Gunn movie (I was a big DAWN OF THE DEAD fan, but think this is his first directing assignment) that got buzz after Comicon last year and now seems to be fairly close to finished. I say fairly because the effects aren’t done and well, the existence of a test screening must mean someone feels there is work to be done. Either way, I am excited to say effects or not the movie delivers in a gory and twisted one two punch that shed a glimmer of hope on the 2006 horror docket.
