Amber was born on the 8th of January 1977 in Birmingham,
Alabama. As a young girl she studied singing, dancing as well as acting.
While still in her teens she was involved in productions at the local
community theatre. Her family moved to Los Angeles soon afterwards so
she could pursue a career in acting. In 1994 her debut 'King of the
Hill' earned her a Young Artist Award nomination for 'Best Youth Actress
Co-Starring in a Motion Picture Drama'. After numerous film and TV roles
she was given the role as Tara, witch on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Before Buffy she got roles on other films such as Can't Hardly Wait
(with Seth Green) & Bye Bye Love (with Eliza Dushku & Lindsey
Crouse).
Lives in Los Angeles with her mother, her dog Pennsylvania (aka Penny)
and her cat Benneton (aka Benny). Loves to read and spends a lot of her
"down time" on set reading. Lists some of her favourite
authors as Ray Bradbury, Susan Cooper, Marion Zimmer Bradley, J.K.
Rowling (the 'Harry Potter' series), and Christopher Golden (the 'Body
of Evidence' series). In 2001, at the age of just 24, Amber directed,
wrote, produced and starred in her own movie called 'Chance'. It was
presented at the Sundance Film Festival in 2002.
Tara Maclay
Tara was first noticed by Willow where both were attending a
wicca group on campus at UC Sunnydale. From some things Tara said both
her mother and grandmother were into witch craft. Her and Willow got
closer while they did their craft and soon they were in love. Her father
had said that on her 20th birthday she would turn into a demon, but on
the day of her birthday this didn't happen, it seemed to only be
something that was said to the women of the Maclay family to "keep
them in order". Tara stayed with Willow in Sunnydale instead of
returning with her father, brother and cousin.
Tara & Willow had their ups and downs, one of the more major being
the over use of magic which Willow was using. Tara disagreed with it in
every way, and so decided to leave Willow. Willow proved that she wasn't
addicted and so the two got back together after many months, but this
was short lived as Tara was shot down by Warren and died instantly.
