------------------- Emma Caulfield/Anya Emerson -------------------
Emma Caulfield
Emma was born on the 8th of April, 1973 in San Diego,
California. She began to study theatre as a teen at the La Jolla Playhouse and the renowned Old Globe Theatre, where she won the honour of "Excellence in Theatre Arts."
She had a place studying psychology at San Francisco State university
but gave up her place when she was approached by an agent in Los
Angeles. Between 1995 and 1996 Emma starred in Beverly Hills 90210 as
Susan Keats. After this she also got roles on TV shows such as Nash
Bridges, Renegade and Saved by the Bell: The New Class. After this she
got the role of Anyanka on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At first it was a
one off thing, but later in the season she was asked to reprise the role
and then in the next season she got a gig as a regular character on the
show.
Anyanka "Anya" Emerson/Jenkins
Anya is many hundreds of years old, just over 1000 years old.
Before she was a demon she was a young girl called Aud practicing magic and was
approached by a demon called D'Hoffryn who offered her a job as a
vengeance demon. Anya accepted and for 1000 years the wreaked revenge on
unfaithful men. She took on the guise of a twelfth grader at Sunnydale
High to cast a wish on behalf of Cordelia who was cheated on by Xander.
Cordelia's wish through the whole world in disarray but she was found
out her power centre was destroyed by Giles and she was trapped in her
human form.
Anya fled from Sunnydale once she knew of the impending ascension that
was to occur leaving Xander behind, with whom she got quite attached.
She later returned to Xander and the two of them built a relationship
together and got very close. She also became a partner to Giles' newly opened
magic shop, The Magic Box. Xander proposed to Anya later that year and
they were due to get married. But after seeing what could have been
their future together Xander left Anya at the alter. Anya was comforted
by her ex-boss, D'Hoffryn who offered her her job back, and she took it,
again she was a vengeance demon.
However the few years that she had spent as a human effected her job as
a vengeance demon and found she could no longer be the demon she once
was. She was made human again and helped the Scoobies in any way which
she could. Her relationship with Xander was repaired and after the
battle it seemed the two would get back together. But sadly in that
final battle Anya died saving Andrew's life. She was killed by a
Bringer.
