Nathan
Fillion
Canadian-born (March 27th 1971) Nathan Fillion won over audiences of all ages for his charming and romantic portrayal of Joey Buchanan. Joey found love with off-beat Kelly Cramer, despite the longstanding feud between their two families. Their relationship was on shaky ground, however, when Joey found himself drawn to Olivia, a beautiful, mysterious woman with a hidden agenda.
In 1996, Nathan was nominated for both a Soap Opera Award for Outstanding Younger Lead Actor and a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor.
The youngest son of two high-school English teachers, Nathan was one semester shy of graduating from the University of Alberta when he won the role of Joey and packed his bags for New York City. Though he is a newcomer to daytime television, he appeared in "Die Nasty," an improvised comedy spoof of a soap opera performed at a local Edmonton theater. Nathan is also no stranger to ABC: In December, 1992, he appeared in "Ordeal in the Arctic," a television movie starring Richard Chamberlain and Melanie Mayron.
Among Nathan's variety of Canadian credits is the television movie, "Strange and Rich," and theatrical performances in the Orlando and Edmonton Fringe Festivals. He also competed in Theatresports as a member of Rapidfire Theatre, an Edmonton theater company.
Since being transplanted to Manhattan, Nathan has taken to city streets for his latest interest, roller-blading. Among his other talents, Nathan boasts riding a unicycle, "washing cars, housework and mowing lawns."
Nathan was previously a regular in the ABC show "Two Guys and a Girl" and later played the lead role in the short run Fox series,
"Firefly" and is now reprising the role in the Firefly movie,
Serenity. |
Malcolm
"Mal" Reynolds
The son of a rancher, Mal was brought up on the planet Shadow by his
mother and a large amount of other helping hands, which leads to the
obvious conclusion that Mal and his family were fairly well off. He
fought in the Unification War for the Independents as a soldier who
commanded up to five thousand soldiers during the battle in Serenity
valley on the planet Hera. The war was a pivotal moment for Mal. While
it seemed that they would win the battle in Serenity Valley there wasn't
enough back up, after all Mal had tried to do and he had to give himself
up. Since the war Mal has tried to operate as much under the radar as
possible. First thing he did was to by a ship, he bought a Firefly class
transport ship and named her Serenity. He enlisted Zoë as his first
mate on the ship and brought in a crew. Jayne, Wash and Kaylee. Together
they did what they could to keep flying, took whichever jobs they can no
matter how illegitimate. He will do whatever it takes for his ship and
his crew. And will always stay away from the Alliance for as long as he
can.
