Amends Episode Guide

Summary

Faith doesn't have much to do in this episode, except take up an invitation from a guilt laden Buffy to Christmas dinner with the Summers, courtesy of Joyce. Thankfully, at least she can see through the fact that Buffy was pushed. But this really is a make-up ep after the turmoil of Revelations (Faith-wise). Amends is (as are most Buffy The Vampire Slayer episodes) another wonderful episode. However, the center of this episode is a tormented Angel. He's seeing many people he murdered (including Robia La Morte as Jenny Calender) who are telling him to kill Buffy. This episode finally sees Angel asking why he's returned. The ending is lovely.

Story Line

Faith appears when Buffy goes to her hotel room as her mother requested. After Faith has admitted Buffy to her room, Buffy notes Faith's Christmas lights. Faith replies with "Yeah, well, 'tis the season. Whatever that means." An uncomfortable silence follows until Buffy awkwardly asks Faith if she'd like to come over for Christmas. Faith figures that Joyce has sent Buffy and tells her so. She then proceeds to unconvincingly tell Buffy she has a party to go to but...  (read more)

Breakdown

This episode establishes once again for those who had Faith painted as not as good as Buffy or just a sleazy poor girl, that she's far from it. Eliza makes Faith vulnerable and believable. It's amazing that Faith has the heart (after Revelations) to even attempt celebrating Christmas. But there are the string of lights adorning her spartan room, showing that she's at least trying to enjoy 'the season'. Also, again we can see how Faith still isn't over the...  (read more)
