Bad Girls Episode Guide

Summary

This is probably either the first or second favorite episode among Faith fans. Like Revelations it's bittersweet. Also, like Revelations, things start happily enough. It seems Faith and Buffy have re-established their friendship with one important difference. As we get into the ep, it seems that Faith has the dominant role of the two. Buffy's in awe. So much so, that Xander actually tells her to "resume her ode to Faith later."

Deputy mayor Alan Finch is having second thoughts about the Mayor's Ascension. Also, it seems there are new vamps in town which has Giles and new watcher Wesley Wyndham-Pryce intrigued. Faith doesn't (understandably) want a bar of the new Watcher. Both Slayers still investigate though, and find that supposed dead vamp Balthazar is very much alive!

Story Line

The episode opens with Faith and Buffy slaying almost by rote! In fact, the two are discussing Xander while fighting. It seems Faith isn't forgetting about him. She actually wants to make sure the coast is clear for her to proceed with him and not encroach on a potential Buffy/Xander relationship. Breakdown

This episode is awesome. On a sub text level, it spells out the lure of not living by rules. The freedom and fun. It also highlights the dangers of not living by the rules. That said, it's also an amazing episode from a Faith point of view. There's a few parts where Faith is the same person we met in Faith, Hope and Trick. Her false bravado is still very much present.
