The Zeppo
Story Line
The pre-credit opening has Giles, Buffy, Faith, Willow and Xander fighting demons known as 'The sisterhood of Jhe'. Apocalyptic harbringers and extremely hard to kill. Faith notes that they're "wicked rowdy" and asks Giles what their deal is. Comedy comes in the form of everyone looking for Xander, who finally emerges, asking the rest of the gang to let him know if they see his spine on the ground. Opposed to what a few others think (that Faith is unimpressed with Xander) I think her remark about how "manly" his screams were, are actually dove-tailing with Xander's witty comment. Not disparaging him.
When next we see Faith, she's fighting one of the demons and losing! Xander runs the demon over with his uncle's car, saving Faith. He drives her back to her motel where they both sprint to her room, fearing that another demon (or the same mowed down one) may be chasing them. Once sure that they're free of any 'sisters', Faith then begins to feel pain. She notes: "that bitch dislocated my shoulder."
Removing her jacket, she asks Xander to hold her. He's stunned. Faith sighs and braces herself against him, putting her shoulder back in place. She then tells him that the demon "got me really wound up. A fight like that and no kill, I'm about ready to pop." It doesn't take a genius to figure what happens next. Unlike people's preconceptions, Faith is not 'wham-bam-thank-you'. She seems to genuinely like Xander. She's thoughtful: "Don't worry, I'll steer you around the curves", and engages in cuddling and eye contact.
She then sends Xander on his way. Our next glimpse (and I do mean glimpse!) of Faith is with Buffy and company, who are trying desperately to stop Armageddon. Obviously, they succeed and Xander outwits the scary dead guys. The next day at school, Buffy and the gang are congratulating themselves and observing that no-one knows how close to the end everyone was. Xander is proud of himself and the verbal slings and arrows of Cordelia bounce off him. He walks away, happy. Much to Cordelia's confusion.
