Daniel Holtz | Skip | Sahjhan | Linwood Murrow | Justine Cooper
Daniel Holtz In the 18th century Daniel Holtz was a vampire hunter with a lust to rid the world of the scourge of Europe, Angelus, and his consort Darla. He spends years looking for them; forever just on their tail until in 1764 he finally thinks he has caught up with them in his home town of York. Little does he know, while he was out hunting with his men, his prey were at his home feeding on his family. He returns home to find his wife and baby son dead, and his daughter worse. With sorrow in his heart he grabs her and throws her into the sunlight where she burns and turns to dust.

The following years are spent looking for vengeance, in 1767 Holtz has follows Angelus and Darla to Marseilles, France, he tracks down Angelus but he manages to slip his grasp, although he takes a few arrows in the process. Eventually, in 1771, Holtz finally manages to capture Angelus in Rome, but fails to kill him, rather torturing him for some days, giving Darla the chance to rescue him.

Finally in 1773, bitter, defeated and beaten by sorrow, Holtz returns to his home in York, England. Here he is visited by the demon Sahjhan who tells him that he will have his revenge on Angelus but not in this time. Sahjhan offers Holtz the chance to return when the time is right and take his revenge.

At the start of the 21st century, the time has come for Holtz to take his revenge and Sahjhan re-awakens him. At first confused with 21st century times, Holtz quickly catches up and Sahjhan finds that Holtz will not submit to orders. Holtz also finds that Sahjhan has omitted a few details, the fact that Angel now has soul and that Darla is pregnant. He points out that, although this will make no difference to his wanting revenge, it will make a difference to how he carries it out.

Holtz starts to gather his own crew of vampire hunters, people with a thirst for vengeance who have lost loved ones. Justine, a girl who lost her twin to a vampire, is his first recruit and his right hand man. Together they hatch a plan, and Justine, on the pretence of coming to Wesley for help, slits his throat and steals baby Connor, taking him to Holtz.

Holtz names the son he never got the chance to have, Stephen Franklin Thomas and makes plans to take him to a ranch in Utah, however his plans are foiled when Wolfram & Hart, Sahjhan and Angel turn up, all with an interest in the child.

When Sahjhan opens a portal to another dimension, Quor’toth, Holtz sees his chance and, taking the baby, jumps through the portal. In Quor’toth Holtz raises Connor to hate Angel, training him to be a hunter, but despite his efforts he comes to love the boy like a son. Seventeen years pass in Quor’toth where only a matter of weeks pass on earth and Connor finds a way back to home, closely followed by Holtz.

As Connor tries to deal with the fact that Angel, though a vampire, may also be a good man, Holtz sees the two becoming closer. In his final act of revenge Holtz calls on his old friend Justine. She reluctantly does what he asks and kills him with an ice pick, making it look like a vampire attack, leaving Connor to think that Angel has murdered him.

BACK TO KEITH SZARABAJKA | BACK TO TOP
Skip Skip is a demon of a devious kind. While working for a higher being that has meticulous plans to take over the world, he poses as a demon working on the side of good.

He comes to our notice when he is the gaoler of Billy, the son of one of Wolfram & Hart’s client’s, who has been sentenced to live in a cage of fire in Skip’s dimension. Wanting Billy freed, Wolfram & Hart use Cordelia’s ever more painful visions to persuade Angel to rescue him. Skip gives up the fight surprisingly easily for a large, heavily armoured demon.

When Cordelia’s visions leave her in a coma and her astrally-projected self watches Team Angel try to bring her back to life, Skip arrives as her demon guide. Taking her to a Matrix-like construct of a mall, he shows her what her life would have been like if, instead of meeting Angel at that party, she would instead have met a powerful talent agent. Telling her that humans were never meant to receive the visions and that they will eventually kill her, he offers her the chance to take that alternate life.

Accepting his offer, Cordy soon finds that there is something missing from her life and Skip appears again to offer her another choice. She can go back to her old life and keep the visions, in a pain-free way by becoming part-demon. She accepts and returns to her body.

Skip then further interrupts Cordy’s life just as she is about to meet Angel and declare her undying love for him. Appearing to her in the middle of the freeway, he stops time to inform her that she has become a higher being and must ascend to a higher plane.

His true colours are finally shown when Angel comes searching for answers to the whole Cordelia being the Beast’s Master question. After some not-so-gentle persuasion, Skip tells Team Angel that everything that has happened to them has been leading to this moment, not only the things that have happened to Cordelia, her receiving the visions and becoming a higher being, but Fred being sent to Pylea, Lorne leaving Pylea and even Connor being born. All these things have been engineered in order that Cordelia could give birth to the higher being that is now controlling her.

Skip finally meets a sticky end at Wesley’s hands when he tries to take out the whole of Team Angel, starting with Fred.

BACK TO DAVID DENMAN | BACK TO TOP
Sahjhan Sahjhan belongs to a race of demons who were once violent bringers of chaos and death, so much so that they even scared the Senior Partners ayt Wolfram & Hart who made them incorporeal. In their incorporeal state they cannot be killed but can be captured in a special urn.

Amongst his other abilities, Sahjhan can time travel. Learning of a prophecy which states "The one sired by the vampire with a soul shall grow to manhood and kill Sahjhan”, the demon decides that he must do all that he can to prevent this prophecy coming to pass.

As events have already come to pass and the vampire with a soul has sired an, as yet unborn, child, Sahjhan must work fast. Returning to the 18th century, Sahjhan approaches an old enemy of Angel’s who has a thist for revenge, the vampire hunter Holtz. Sahjhan offers Holtz the chance to kill Angel and Darla in the future. Holtz accepts and Sahjhan brings him to the present day to exact his revenge. His plan hits a snah, however, when he discovers that Holtz’s idea of revenge is not the same as his and the child is born. To ensure that all points are covered, Sahjhan once more travels through time and re-writes the prophecy to state ‘The Father Will Kill The Son’ and ensures that this prhocey reaches Wesley. Just to put the icing on the cake, he seks help from Lilah at Wolfram & Hart for help, stealing some of baby Connor's blood and inserting it into Angel's food.

But despite all his efforts and crafty planning, Angel remains undead and Holtz steals Angel’s son to raise him as his own. Sahjhan settles for second best and sends Holtz and Connor to the demon dimension, Quor’toth, a portal to which can only be opened once.

In an effort to find his son, Angel performs a ritual to make Sahjhan corporeal, however on learning that a second portal cannot be opened and the truth about the prophecy, Angel and Sahjhan fight, but before Sahjhan can plunge a stake into Angel's heart, Justine opens an urn and draws him into it.

Here Sahjhan stays for two years until the urn finds its way into the hands of an ancient sorcerer by the name of Cyvus Vail. Vail and Sahjhan have a history and Vail would very much like to see the prophecy of Sahjhan’s death fulfilled. To further this end he brings Connor and Sahjhan together and, after a brief fight, Connor finds the part of himself that can kill demons and the prophecy is fulfilled.
