Buffy Season 3

The Box Synopsis

Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, was a huge cult hit in the United States and all but a religion in the rest of the world.

It is a fantasy show, about a young girl, Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who was 'chosen' by fate, to deal with vampires and other assorted demons. The difference with Buffy was, she also tried to balance a so-called 'normal' life of High School and friends, while enduring the burden of being a Slayer.

We Say Review

The main reason Buffy was such a hit, was that the demon's were often real-life problems dressed up. Issues such as child abuse to death were dealt with thoughtfully and with great care.

The show was also helped by the fact that it combined comedy, a good dose of martial arts/action and beautiful (and talented) young actors who were mostly unknown when the show started.

Many will tell you (including myself) that Third Season Buffy (98/99) was the best season, and the season that introduced us to the 'new' Slayer, Faith.

Faith is the total opposite of Buffy. Younger, far more zesty, but far more troubled, also. Her lack of parental and authority figures, along with a poor background, only made Faith vulnerable and easily led. Determined not to be overlooked or play second fiddle to Buffy, Faith does what she can to be noticed and loved for herself, rather than being 'the other' Slayer.

Eliza was perfect as Faith, giving an amazingly seasoned and believable performace as the tough, but vulnerable, younger Slayer, whose only desire was to be accepted and loved by Buffy and her friends.

This role made Eliza a household name in the UK and Ireland, and did nothing but amazing things for her profile in the United States, also.
