- The ULTIMATE BUFFY Episode Countdown
We're getting close to the top 50. I know you're waiting with breathless
anticipation.
Xander and Anya are getting married. We have Demons and Harris' at the shindig,
so you know it can't turn out well. Buffy and Willow are wearing bride's maid
dresses that make them wish they were covered in larva. Some demon that Anyanka
cursed a few decades ago comes to town, shows Xander a nightmare version of their future,
and chaos ensues. Then Xander decides he doesn't want to end up like his parents, so
he calls the wedding off. Not one of the Carpenter's best moments, I'll grant you that. Anya
ends up dying 18 months later anyway -- if you want to think of it in a bleak, morbid way. Which
apparently I do.
It's Slayerfest '98, which happens to coincide with the Sunnydale High Homecoming dance. Cordelia's
a part of Slayerfest, and just goes to show you that you can have all the technology in the world,
and still have computer errors. Damn EXCEL SPREADSHEET! So Buffy and Cordy both lose the Homecoming Queen
crown to a couple day players -- shows how popular they are. Also -- for some strange reason, Candy Gorch
can be killed by a plastic spatula. Don't tell me it was wooden, cause it sure didn't look like it.
You mean the broody guy that leaves cryptic messages is a VAMPIRE??!! No way! We get a little background
on Angel, the vampire with a soul and an affinity for teenage girls. The gypsies cursed him with the soul,
his penis cursed him with the affinity for teenage girls. Darla sired him, and apparently she's gun-happy. Which
is always fun.
Meet Faith. She's a tiny bit different than Kendra. What I mean by that is she's completely the opposite. We also
get to meet Mr. Trick and Kokistos. Mr. Trick gets to stick around, Kokistos on the other hand, well, he
won't be kissing toast anytime soon. Bad joke, I know. Oh, and Faith likes to ride alligators naked! That
girl is going places.
Buffy goes on a date with Principal Wood. Place "wood"-penis reference here. Xander goes on a date with Ashanti,
who obviously couldn't act herself out of a paper bag. She's a demon, of course, because, well, it's Xander. We
also find out that Wood's mom was Nikki the vampire slayer. I wonder if he'll find out that Spike killed his
mom?! Nah.
Nikole: So I'm not the only one who thought Angel was way creepy crushing on a 16 year old? Because the guy was like 240 years old. And if you want to say that he still looks young it doesn't matter because it would probably make him like 27 when he was sired. That's creepy. Sorry. Spike_and_Angel: Giles' flashcards! Oh man! I liked Hells Bells. Weddings are always funny, Atalanta: I'd put Hell's Bells much lower.. what a depressing episode! And Angel should be higher up. angelus: ashanti should be shot. despite that, i think 'first date' has enough positive moments to make it a good episode. The First: I agree this time with the countdown... mostly. I mean, you just've GOT to be high to put First Date higher than Hell's Bells. Sure, the flashcards are nice, Xander finally coming out- nice too, but Ashanti? Give me. A. Break. my_angel: what do u mean? angel is great, and buffy was a far better show when he was in it Lurker: Homecoming and Faith, Hope, and Trick are good eps...but in my list, anything with angel would be in the 100's... joel: hell's bells overrated? you've got to be kidding? i haven't seen any list where it's place has been higher than 60. jo: BTW, 'First Date'? Any episode with Ashanti is the worst. Episode. Ever. K, I'll shut up now. :D jo: 'Angel' should be way higher, 'Hells Bells' way lower. Ugh. Horrible episode.
