Bye Bye Love Film

Bye Bye Love

The Box Synopsis

This is a story about the breakup of the family. In particular, it focuses on the lifestyle of three divorced men. The film is presented from their perspective and it reveals their relationship with their children, ex-wives, girl friends, male friendships, and their identities as divorced men. In addition to dealing with divorce, the film touches on spousal loss and young adult homelessness. The film can be considered a social commentary that is both comical and emotional. Donny (Paul Reiser) still carries a torch for his ex, and has trouble relating to his teenage daughter, Emma (Eliza). Dave (Matthew Modine) can't make a commitment. Vic (Randy Quaid) carries a lot of anger toward his ex, and winds up with the blind date from hell. (Hilariously played by Janeane Garafolao) Needling all of them is a blathering radio psychologist (Rob Reiner) dispensing his advice on the subject of divorce.

We Say Review

You may think that this film is a clunker. "Critics' certainly panned it. But no one else did! The public that DID go and see it, loved it. And how could you not? Matthew Modine is terribly under-rated. The same with Randy Quaid. Paul Reiser, you either love or hate--he has that effect! A likes him--B can't stand him. Anyway, a comedy about three divorced men trying to come to terms with it all, add in poignancy, Eliza and fellow BtVS alumni, Amber Benson with an hysterical (as always) Janeane Garafolo and you have ingredients for a good film. Don't listen to critics. Add it to your collection :)
