Giles’s second car

In Real Me, we see that Giles has brought a new sporty red convertible BMW. This ties in well with his semi-mid-life crisis played out in season four. Being an unemployed librarian and ex-member of the Watcher’s Council must pay pretty well.

      I think this was addressed in one of the commentaries, that they decided Giles had money from other places, like researching and writing on demon stuff. You know…maybe for the “Everyone Thinks We’re Insane-O’s Home Journal” that Buffy mentions in Checkpoint.

      maybe his car insurence payed for it. After all it was destroyed do to an act of demon

      I don’t think that Giles is a kind of person that spends a lot of money, for some time he got $$$ from Council and working as a librarian which he probably was saving. After his car was destroyed he simply need a new one, so he bought it. Don’t forget that later Giles owns a magic shop, so he is able now to aford having car like that without saving. Later he gets money from the council for whole time they didnt gave him + normal a normal salary from them, then giles probably becomes quite rich
