Buffy tells Angel that Drusilla may still be alive because they never found her body. However vampires turn to dust when they die therefore there would not be a body if she were dead. |

Wow, I just watched that episode on FX today and I didn’t even pick up on that. That’s a pretty big goof there! Nobody corrects her, even.

Maybe they only turn to dust if they’re staked, not killed some other way?

They turn to dust if their heads are cut off, and if they burn…what else is there? Well there is the special poison that Faith gets angel with, but we don’t know if that would have eventually dusted him.

Zachary Kralik turned to dust from drinking holy water, so most vampires seem to dust when they die. The exception, of course, being the Master.
