Goof seen in: The Initiative at 12.40
Spike must have had his chip implanted while he was unconscious, so how was he able to attack the Initiative scientists when he escaped from the cell without feeling pain? He later attacks Willow and gets in position to bite her but feels no pain, though he should have felt pain as soon as he attacked her. |

Maybe it took a while to kick in. Or maybe he had a major headache anyways and couldn’t tell the difference.

Or they could have activated it only after he escaped.
But for the part where he attacks Willow, I agree, it’s a goof.

One of the characters (I think it’s an Initiative guy) says something along the lines of, “pretty soon he won’t even be able to punch”, which would indicate that the chip will take a little while to kick in. It would make sense that he can’t bite, because that’s the most harmful thing he could do, and slowly the chip will disable physical harm to humans altogether.
So I don’t think this is a goof at all.
