The title reflects the allegorical nature of the episode arc.
the three main narratives centre around Buffy/ Angel, Willow/ Oz and Debbie/ Pete. Each couple are in differnt ways coming to terms with what happens when you mix love and inner beast. It is significant that one of the three beasts (Pete) is truly evil, and doesn’t survive the episode. He is killed by the other two beasts, (Soulful Angel and Oz wolf) both of whom are not so much ‘evil’ as jsut ‘afflicted’.

Excellent Card, I always got the Pete/Deb thingie but failed to realize how it paralleled the main characters. Don’t forget Cordy, she was still pretty much of a beast at that time and we all know Xander has a beautiful heart. Yep, probably stretching it a bit. YaY!!! I think the site is back, All hail Jess!

BTVS is indeed a millefluous onion flower
re cordy, i reckon thats a valid stretch, but then again she’s beauty and the beast rolled into one!
