El Eliminati were a fifteenth century duellist cult, thought to be long gone by many, including Wesley Wyndham-Pryce. They became the acolytes of the demon Balthazar but were driven out of Sunnydale in the late nineteenth century by Richard Wilkins. They returned in Bad Girls to retrieve Balthazar’s amulet to make him stronger, but failed when their master was electrocuted by Buffy. Appeared in: Bad Girls |

Does anyone else think this name is stupid? Obviously, it’s based on the idea of the secret society the Illuminati, which means “the illuminated”. So this name ought to mean “the eliminated” - presumably not what they were going for.
Plus the Latinate -i plural has a Spanish singular definite article “el”.
And it just sounds daft. But then they are a bit rubbish anyway.

and as for ‘duellist cult’, for some reason i always thought it was ‘dualist’ cult, but i never really wondered to much about the nature of the dualism.
so they like duelling, eh?
another wierd thing for me is that they (illunimati), and flubberchops bucketboy have this long history of being enemies with the mayor RW3rd. its sort of odd that flubbys final words are warning, seemingly in awe, of the coming badness. It’s a funny way to speak of your mortal enemy, ‘cause in evil circles calling each other evil and deadly dangerous is like paying a compliment.
